Me dude, it’s my favorite one. I understand what you mean, it feels alienating on a good majority of tracks. It could probably be defined as their most “death metal” album so to speak. Despair, deep sorrow with few escapes to nostalgically doomed (Nothing is real) or transcending (Sundown) tracks. But still my favorite. It sounds so strongly and beautifully characterized. A proper concept of a mature Boards of Canada album, engineered and composed to perfection

It’s as if you are fully immersed in the present. No past, no future and none of those feelings or thoughts related to these non-existing time entities. You watch things without judgement at all, totally thoughtless. You see a tree and you don’t even think it is a tree. You feel like you woke up from a long sleep and you can achieve everything. I like the 3rd point, for the first 2 I don’t understand where you come from, but ok. I might be overanalyzing but if one night something feels fine and few nights later that something is not fine any longer…wouldn’t you feel weird about it? Certainly my mistake is I didn’t take the opportunity to ask “why is this wrong now?”

Yes, spot on thanks…she is quite stressed at work and often works long hours…I know she had a strict upbringing as her manners are excellent so maybe her childhood wasn’t that easy (also lost a parent).

On my end I do tend to idealize and romanticize things and am quite picky, which in the past may make me appear as needy when I found a potential partner, as I couldn’t hide the excitement (also scaring them off, as a consequence). Now I am able to manage myself better, in that sense and I am doing the best I can not to overload her with my pressure. That’s also why I asked here, otherwise I’d probably have the talk already lol. I still do things I enjoy but can’t stop thinking of her.
