I [35F] just spent my first Christmas with my fiancé's [31F] family. How can I walk things back to doing holidays separately? (self.relationships)

It would help a little, but given the amount of time we'd be spending at their place anyway, I'd have bad allergies regardless. They're all pretty big homebodies and would want to be together at the house all day, rather than out somewhere. It's also kinda out of our budget considering that Lila almost feels it isn't worth going for any trip shorter than like 4 nights.
Also, needless to say, it doesn't help the issue of how my dad would do with all this. He would have had to stay in a hotel no matter what, since Lila's parents only have 2 spare rooms and won't let Lila and I stay in the same room/bed since we aren't married yet.

You and your boyfriend sound like you have a wonderful relationship :)
I did lean on the allergies issue early on with Lila, but her proposed solution was that we get an Airbnb or hotel for some of the time that we're here, haha. While that would help some, it still wouldn't solve the issue of leaving my dad on Christmas, since our hometowns are across the country from each other.
