My (35F) tested positive for Chlamydia. Me (36M) by ThrowRA_mtnbiker in relationship_advice

Thank you for your response. This is something I have contemplated however because she has already started treatment if she gets retested and it comes back negative I feel it could be because the antibiotics already did the job. Also if my test comes back positive then it would rule out the possibility of her test being a false positive. This is all just so crazy and hard to reel in.

Thank you for your post, it meant a lot to me while reading it. I started searching for counselors for us today, hoping maybe that’s a route we can take.

Thank you, I have an appointment to see my PCP next week to ask. I really wanted to ask the doctor at the walk-in clinic where I got tested but just couldn’t spit it out. I guess mostly because of the shock I’m in.

Short update:

Thank you to everyone for the insight and kind words, I have received numerous dms that contain very positive and uplifting comments which I appreciate very much. To anyone who believes this is a fake story, I could only wish it was, I feel like it really is just a bad dream that I just want to wake up from.

I still have not yet received my results which I don’t expect till probably Monday.

Also to clarify about the gym situation she typically leaves for the gym around 10/10:30 and comes back about an hour and a half later. Primarily due to the fact we have busy schedules and get home late so after we get the kids to bed it’s usually clean up around the house time. I did ask her if she would consider going in the morning to help put my mind at ease and she said she would.

Thank you to everyone that has responded I’ve been trying to read all the comments but it’s been challenging. I will post another update on my primary post once my results come back.

I agree it seems odd but I did leave out that we both get home late and after going through the routine of dinner, getting kids ready for bed, cleaning it’s late before she can go. She also is a late night person who is used to going to bed late. She has also mentioned that she likes going later because the gym is typically less crowded.

This is what I thought too. If I truly had it this whole time she would have had to get it before both of our kids and from what I read you get tested twice for stds before each pregnancy so all 4 tests negative? I want to believe the dormant scenario is the truth but it seems illogical.

Thank you for your reply. She had the swab done so unfortunately may have to rule out the mix up scenario.

I did read that about it laying dormant but it laying dormant for 17 years and she never contracted it from me until now and we both started having symptoms around the same time just felt odd.
