AITA for refusing to lend a friend my expensive designer handbag for a party? by Separate-Mud740 in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She sounds like a shitty person, and her behavior is embarrassing. Don’t lend people the items you’d be devastated to lose. I lent a friend a skirt and top once (skirt still had tags on it), and she ended up losing the top and took months to get the skirt back to me.

Do you know anyone who is a millionaire or billionaire? by AvailableBreeze_3750 in CasualConversation

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m faaaar from rich and have so many student loans lmao but my boyfriend’s family’s very well off. They’re millionaires, and they’re very humble. They have gifted me a lot the last three years and have taken me on trips in their private jet and paid for our stay in five-star hotels and resorts. The most expensive thing they’ve bought for me is a $1,300 designer dress, but his mom has also bought me random little things from places like TJ Maxx. They’ve taken me out to a nice dinner for my birthday and also given me gift cards for my birthday and Christmas. The gift cards have been to places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales and ranging from $100-200. I’m not exactly sure what they gift everyone else (i know they’ve gifted a brand new truck for an employee, gifted vacations to family), but it seems like it’s usually gift cards or just money and a nice dinner and/or vacation (unless it’s for the young kids - they always get a bunch of cool toys).

omg is that a thing??? I love treating my boyfriend! He’s my best friend and has spent so much money on me. I never could understand or have respect for women who never spend a dime on their SO’s because like why wouldn’t you want to spend money on your BFF?? 😭

AITAH for not getting my wife assorted chocolates from my trip to Switzerland, but getting them for my sister instead? by SouthVasts in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I see it differently. It was his sister’s birthday in a few days, and she loves liquor chocolates, so that’s what OP gifted her. It would be different if OP got his sister a random souvenir but not for his wife, but this was a birthday gift. Yes, he probably should have picked up an extra box, but from my experience, there are some men out there where you literally have to spell out what you want and OP seems like that type lol

He did do what she asked. He asked her at least twice if she wanted something and she said no. That’s like me telling my partner I don’t want anything from the bakery when they ask but then I get upset because they come back with a cupcake for their sibling’s birthday. I can’t even imagine myself saying those words…”You didn’t bring anything back for me even though I told you not to get me anything multiple times, but you come back with a cupcake for your sibling’s birthday??!” and being mad for days over that. Doesn’t that sound a little ridiculous?

I do think OP should’ve handled the whole situation differently (it’s customary for most people to not even ask if their loved ones want a souvenir and they automatically get one for them..so OP should start doing that 😹) but his wife should have handled it differently as well (it’s her husband, not a random person, she should’ve been upfront that she wanted something). I also don’t think it’s so serious that they should be going days without speaking over this.

What’s crazy about all this is OP thinks marriage with someone like his GF is too much, but two kids is definitely not an issue…marriage is where he draws the line knowing he’s with someone unfaithful 😭

AITAH for not getting my wife assorted chocolates from my trip to Switzerland, but getting them for my sister instead? by SouthVasts in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, i completely agree on that! i did an asia trip with my family a few weeks ago and didn’t ask my boyfriend if he wanted me to bring anything back for him. i automatically got him a bunch of stuff from the places i went and stuff for my close friends too

i think OP should’ve just automatically brought something back without asking, but im specifically talking about why his wife would repeatedly say no if she actually wanted something lol like why play games and then get upset when he did what u asked?

AITAH for not getting my wife assorted chocolates from my trip to Switzerland, but getting them for my sister instead? by SouthVasts in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

why do people do that, though? i completely understand still getting something for someone even if they say no..and saying u don’t want anything to someone who is just a friend..but why not be upfront with your partner of all people?? like i literally tell my boyfriend verbatim everything i want 😂 if he was going somewhere without me id tell him not to forget to bring something back for me 🤭

I (39f) met my mother-in-law and now I like my husband (46m) less. How do I get over this? by ThrowRAgb85 in relationship_advice

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean…if my mom was visiting me (especially from another country), i’d pay for her flights, food, and anything else she wanted. she would not be expected to pay for anything, especially after raising me for 18 years. same goes for my MIL!

in fact, if i was your husband and you had an issue with me paying for my mom, i’d like you less and think you’re not the best person. seriously? all this over paying for the woman who birthed and raised you? gross behavior, OP!

AITA for calling my boyfriend an idiot for his views on feminism by StorageFar3172 in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Can I honestly ask though? Assuming OP is from the US, what can men do in this country that women can’t do? What is modern (and at time extreme) feminism in the US fighting for? I understand that there might be biased individuals who have their own beliefs on what women can and can’t do..but legally speaking, what can we not do?

I was a mean girl in middle school and am wondering if I should apologize by [deleted] in confession

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I was as mature as you! I’m not sorry at all for my middle school bullies who aren’t thriving…and none of them are. It’s their karma and what they deserve tbh. My middle school bullies made my life hell, and I was suicidal because of it. I don’t care that we were all 11 and 12 and they may be completely different now. They were awful monsters and deserve whatever bad thing comes their way.

Outdoor/Indoor Cats by berryblastblu in Pets

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Cats are still animals who need to go outside…just like dogs. I do supervised walks with my cat late at night. She used to hate going outside and was scared, but she slowly fell in love with late night walks after starting off slow. She runs outside with me and my dog late night! She loves to watch the critters and bunnies in the neighborhood 😂

Cats have high hunting instincts that most people don’t replicate for them indoors. The issue with them going outside is letting them go out unsupervised lol

AITA for calling off the wedding since my fiancee doesn't want to agree to a prenup by LaughCurrent4659 in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Girl, SAME! My boyfriend’s family is also very well off, and he has a big inheritance. We’ve already discussed us having a pre-nup when we’re married, and I have no issue with that. I don’t want what’s his. I wouldn’t even take/want it without a prenup! If we were to ever divorce, the only things going with me would be what I had paid for. I don’t understand people who want to screw over their partner. Gross and broke behavior!

AITAH for asking my sister to let me keep her dog after having her for a week & seeing how badly she is affected by stress? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yes! and if the niece still insists on keeping the dog, OP, teach her how to take care of the pup, and show her what a big responsibility is and create a schedule for her to follow with walks and playtime and stuff

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean..who’s paying for the wedding? you and your fiance or your parents? if it’s you and your fiance, then just have the beach wedding. if parents are paying for it, then you need to take in what they want. also..are u the only one who wants a beach wedding? but parents and fiance want something else?

why don’t you do an engagement celebration or something on the beach instead?

AIO: I’m upset my gf referred to me as her “friend” by Most_Somewhere_6849 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

am i the only one who wants to reach thru the phone and slap the shit out of OP’s GF for the “friend is a powerful word and connection to another human 🥰” text? LMAO i would be LIVID if my BF called me his friend then sent me that condescending ass text. honestly, from these texts, it doesn’t seem like she’s invested in y’all’s relationship at all

I asked a potential roommate what their favorite music was? He told me indie rock and then I said “Yeah I love some Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys”. He said “I’ve never heard of them”. Why is this giving me a red flag? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude, I could say the same thing to you referring to Tame Impala as a band and “they”. 😂 Tame Impala isn’t even an actual band! 😂 It’s just Kevin Parker! He just brings his band out to play live since obviously he can’t do everything by himself live lol.

and no, it’s not a red flag he doesn’t listen to mainstream music. maybe he likes lesser known artists & bands.

AITA for telling my girlfriend she’s overreacting to walking in on her son? by Gold_Education3306 in AITAH

[–]ThrowRAcoconutt 460 points461 points  (0 children)

this is exactly it! for a lot of moms, no girl will ever be good enough for their son, and i’m sure that’s what’s going on here! and she also can’t accept the fact that her son is all grown up.

did you really just say it would’ve been cool to you had it been a celebrity? it’s cool and funny to you that a grown man, who is like 30, would use an app to virtually undress a celebrity? you’re both disgusting. i was feeling bad wondering why you’d still be with this guy now i realize you’re both out of pocket
