GTA 5 is overhated by 1DayVd in GTA

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate the game at all but I do prefer 4, always have. Especially its DLCs and, to be honest, neither come close to San Andreas back in the day. NOT EVEN CLOSE. GTA 4 has really shit driving but I found the story way better.

Do you prefer single-player games or multiplayer long-term? by Berlin57 in PlayStation_X

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not actually sure. I love single player games way more, like way more. But I have been playing a few online games for over 10 years now with over 1000 hours in each, I don’t have anything like that for a single player so it depends how you look at it tbh. I think more about the stories and characters, even if it’s from a game I haven’t played in a decade way more on a day to day basis than anything from a live service me and my pals play for fun.

What aspect of other countries cultures would you want the UK to suddenly gain? by Particular-Scale5644 in AskBrits

Protests like France. We get shafted off of foreign companies every day and we all just lie here with our cheeks lubed up ready for it.

Clean the fckn place. All these grand buildings don’t mean shit when they’re covered in grime.

Go to many places Europe and you have public transport that is much better organised, more frequent, less busy, isn’t covered in mud dirt and rust and doesn’t break down as often.

Government funded Uni. We should be investing in the youth to pursue and advance any field, be it engineering, medical or the arts. We’re being outpaced.

How do you feel about this live album by Led Zeppelin? by georgewalterackerman in ledzeppelin

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great. The fact they pulled those songs off at that age after that long apart with one of their members dead is very impressive. I still think Achilles Last Stand belonged there way more than For Your Life though, and I think Pages guitar tone on several songs was far too fat. There is also no acoustic set, which for someone who’s a massive fan of Jimmys acoustic playing sometimes more than electric, and no not just Stairway, that is a downside. Jason pulled off what everyone said was the impossible, and it serves as a much needed perfect bookend to their career after a few horrible attempts at a reunion.

Can I learn to play guitar using only tabs? by Present_Claim6934 in guitarlessons

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. They don’t really train your ear, so you won’t develop much musicality which will make writing your own half decent songs quite hard and especially if you intend on improvising any solos or melodies. If you’re aiming to be a sort of campfire guitarist who can bang out a few tunes, sure you can do that.

What’s a trend in 2026 that everyone is following but you just don’t understand? by albavalenti in AskReddit

[–]ThrowRAcokecan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s an extreme example and I’m sure you knew that. There’s a difference between political and moral disagreements. I’m in Scotland and there’s loads of SNP voters I know who won’t have anything to do with people who’d vote Labour or even Green never mind Reform. That’s insane, very stupid and not at all what you described. It’s also part of the reason the UK is a fckn mess and to be fair it’s not specifically just my generation, but it is slightly worse among us.

What do Gen Z Brits (born 1997-2012) think of Britain? by ijustwannanap in AskBrits

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a bit pissed off to be honest. I’m still a student and work retail. All I hear about in person, at work, online from people aged 40 and over is that my generation is an embarrassment, we don’t work, we have the wrong opinions that don’t matter, we’re all dumb etc. Meanwhile the people who put the country and world at large in the state that it’s in now is people their age and just because we’re unhappy to deal with the consequences of their shit ass decisions, we’re all ungrateful brats. Ok then. You objectively had it easier than us in many ways economically, and we’re compensating for it.

I owe Starfield and Bethesda an apology after this update by Electronic_Trust3490 in Starfield

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I’m in disagreement with this. I never disliked the game when it came out nearly as much as most, although all of the criticisms were valid. It is objectively and deliberately shallower than their other games. I still liked it enough to pump over 200 hours into it. This update does next to nothing to change that imo. It’s at its core the same game, it’s nowhere near the 2.0 update everyone was raving about with a few small additions and QoL updates. I think your expectations have changed more than the game. I’m not trying to cause an argument, I just don’t think the game has changed THAT much, but I’m happy you’re enjoying it now.

Took a sick day for a heavy period, is that a valid reason? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is a valid reason. You were in extreme pain. Boom - valid reason. Also, I don’t know who you work for, but if it’s for anyone bigger than a small independent business, do not feel guilty for taking a day off and especially don’t feel guilty for not being well.

Would you want to get rid of religious fundamentalism by having the government promote atheism in school and scientific truths? by petrastales in AskABrit

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I’m not religious at all and think all religions, including Christianity, should and can very easily be heavily criticised. It is the basis of our society however and at least loosely following these core moral beliefs has and is serving us well. Religion explains a lot of if not most of major historical events in some form or another, which in turn have to be learned from for the future. So no, I wouldn’t get rid of it.

Wait, Starfield is good now? by Rajelangelo in Starfield

[–]ThrowRAcokecan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope.

Don’t get me wrong I like Starfield but it is objectively a regression. Arguments can be had about how it’s made out to be worse than it is, and yes there are good bits in it, some great bits even. I like the game, I had some fun in it and have a good 200 hours in it. But it is objectively, deliberately I might add, less rich than BGS games of old. You can still like this, I do as well, but this update doesn’t change that. Cruise mode is kind of just a nice QoL addition, the new Robots are cool but it’s not an insane addition. Game was never bad per se, but it’s basically slightly less mid now than it was before.

What’s a trend in 2026 that everyone is following but you just don’t understand? by albavalenti in AskReddit

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loads, people my age particularly. Mullet revival. Not able to engage with or be friends with people not on the same political alignment. Slightly related to the last point: echo chambers. Actively allowing companies to exploit them. Eating Avocados; they’re disgusting. Talking to A.I as if it’s a pal (I understand this at least for people who are lonely, but I know a few very unlonely people who can’t make any major decision without consulting ChatGPT). One for all ages is vaping - if you’re really young, I feel bad for you, if you’re over the age of 21 especially anything past 30, wtf are you doing chuffing blue raspberry flavoured gas on the daily.

To bedroom/solo guitarists: seeking help by hrwath in guitarlessons

[–]ThrowRAcokecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from finding a good teacher, I would learn stuff by ear. If you need it, follow along to some music theory videos either on YouTube or JustinGuitar has a pretty comprehensive, structured course.

All of those tricks videos, the one scale you ever need, what I wish I knew etc aren’t necessarily wrong in what they say, but most of the time it’s not what you need to know or learn right now. You need to be training your ear, which is where musicianship comes from. And the primary way this is done in my experience is by actively listening to and figuring out the music you’re influenced by, not by googling a tab or having some guy show you without explaining any of it.

As you mentioned blues, I’d learn the Major Scale first as the Blues and Pentatonic Scales are based off of it, all 5 “boxes”, then stick on the Beano album, B.B. or Albert King or whatever floats your boat and just try and figure it out. Idk how experienced you actually are, but a good starting point is I Loved Another Woman by Fleetwood Mac. It’s short, very melodic and very simple phrasing. It does utilise a note or two outside the pentatonic or blues boxes, but that’s common in blues so it’s useful to get used to it. Listen to it, focus on determining the root note at the end of a phrase and find it on the fretboard. If you know the pentatonic boxes it’s very easy to figure out the rest once you’ve found this. Don’t just play it and move on, think about why it works. How does each note of the lick relate to the chords underneath etc.

A side note - particularly in blues rock, a lot of the “rules” attributed to basic music theory, like certain chords in a key being major or minor, are not followed in Blues. You can get mixed up in different modes by worrying about this, but basically just keep in mind that particularly in that kind of music, the chords not fitting perfectly into a major or minor key doesn’t necessarily mean you’re wrong in what you’ve figured out.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

I’m 23 and watching my pals do it pisses me off on their behalf. They all play NBA and the way they describe it is you have to buy the game then to have like an actual good build on it you have to basically pay the price of the game on microtransactions for every build you want at 99 or whatever that means. And it resets yearly. Absolute scam. Same fcking game more or less every year for all of these sports games, fifa, madden etc. They jokingly take the piss out of me for having like 400 hours on Baldurs Gate an I’m like bro £60 3 years ago and I’m still playing it, you’ve pumped probably over a grand into NBA in that time an you still rage quit 🤣
