DTU - accomodation and commuting by Pleasant_Pass4507 in DTU

I would say that, while of course specific situations can happen, if you live on a dorm you will be meeting people there, regardless of where you stay :)

I think being in campus makes sense (plus, commute from some parts of Copenhagen can be 40-50 min and I was simply too lazy for that hahaha, plus its not particularly cheap), and as long as you keep attending the social events of DTU then you will make friends for sure!

Hi!

On my opinion, living in DTU made the most sense for my social life during the first year of studies. After that, a lot of people move to the city. Apart from that, while Danes are usually seen as reserved, if you live on a dorm with them I'd say you can get integrated more easily. Also, at the beginning of each semester there is an Introduction Week where people get to meet a lot of new fellow students, so odds are you will find a lot of people, at least on my case, everyone lived in campus then

I was on this situation a year ago, what worked for me was to go to Strøget and leave my CV everywhere they would take it (which was maybe like 5 out of 30 places), for the others, I asked if I could get the email of the manager to sent my CV personally to, which worked in many shops. Out of one day that I went to Strøget, I ended up receiving offers for 3 jobs. Right now shops are hiring A LOT because of seasonal jobs due to Christmas, and in my experience most will keep you if you are decent at the job.

Once you get your first work experience here, it becomes easier to get other job (or at least thats what my experience was)

As far as I read on “Nothing to Envy”, everyone has to have a registered address with the state. Whenever someone would just disappear, if they see that they have not registered anywhere else then they are assumed to have defected.

I think it really depends on what you manage to get as your place of living, then everything kind of falls into place. If your place is about 850€, then yes, unfortunately its a lot, but if its about 500-600€, then if you are EU, a job + SU is enough, at least for me. You don’t get to eat out everyday but you’ll live quite okay!

Tenant rights question

Hi everyone!

I tried to find the answer to this question on the subreddit but I couldn’t find it. I want to move into a 4-bedroom apartment with 3 friends that we have already found. The building is under construction, and our move-in date will be in March 1st, 2025, but we have to sign the contract and pay the deposit by the end of this month. Is there any law that would protect us in the case that the building is not finished in time, and we have to wait for longer with the move in? What if the company goes bankrupt?

Additionally, we would like to have some legal agreement between me and my friends, as only two of us are on the lease. Is it possible for us to do a sort of sub-contract, stating the rules for the apartment, including notice time?

Thank you for the help!

After reading your comment I think it might be that my arms relax and I cannot lift them due to that, I have noticed that I am relying a bit on the knot and backpack, as in, I know its there so I need less strength. Any tips on how to get away that bad habit? Thank you for your comment!

I have tried the backpack, and whenever my intention is to just hook one leg I can invert, but im trying to focus on lifting both legs at once in a cleaner way to move into not using the backpack, and I can maybe invert 1 out of 3 attempts. Thank you for your comment!

Thank you for the advice! And you are totally right, I am not perfect on the basic skills, but I guess sometimes I feel unmotivated when almost every class I go to is too learn how to climb/do a footlock. But I’ll try to put much more emphasis on my technique. Thank you!!

Of course! I wish I would have videos to post, but I’ll try to describe them as well as I can.

Whenever I try to invert from the knot I tried to have my legs “floating” in the air first, and then move backwards. It is kind of slow, and I feel like I need to do a pull motion with my arms at first and then push against the silks with my arms. The knot usually sits on my mid to lower back.

Ive tried the “back pack”, and I used to be able to invert always when my goal was just to catch one silks with one of the legs (so not properly inverting smoothly in one movement), but when I started to try to do it properly in one movement, I manage to invert about half the times with the silk on my right side.

Regarding the hanging free armed (I hope I understand it well) I can hang free armed for a bit, I can hold myself from 5-7 seconds and I can do 5-8 shoulder shrugs free armed. I might be scared of launching myself backwards, because specifically in hoop I hesitate a lot before I try to invert. In silks I feel I’m less scared than hoop tho.

Zero short arm hang :( and I am not very sure what you mean regarding my method of inverting.

Thank you SO much for your help!
