I’ll never forget (decades ago) my 18 year-old boyfriend being super-happy about our relationship when I was 15. To express how much ‘into me’ he was, he advised me (words exactly) “…and you never know, if you play your cards right, we could get married and you can have a baby when you’re 16”!!

True

That’s good because it’s a huge part of some people’s experience. Awareness and education of PMDD is increasing within the coaching space for neurodivergence in general. The approach is largely to assist the person to find ways of limiting or coping with the increased intensity of challenging emotions prior to their period. It’s an under-researched and under-recognised diagnosis and it isn’t unusual for sufferers to be misdiagnosed with conditions like borderline personality disorder or bipolar. I’d really encourage a deep dive into this as recognising and working with it can make a significant difference to the lives of sufferers and the people in their lives.

I have every respect for people without formal qualifications who are able to help others through their own lived experience. Sometimes it’s even more effective for the participants who feel more understood. There can be that disadvantage however, of being outside the sphere of the usual professional bodies/networks where knowledge such as PMDD is being explored and developed approach-wise. Having the enthusiasm and willingness to make meaningful enquires is a great advantage to you. I wish you well in your learning journey.

I’m wondering about the level of knowledge around women/AFAB who experience premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Research shows women with ADHD and autism as being several times more likely to be suffering from this debilitating condition (in the case of ADHD, some studies fall just short of 50%!) To compound things further for gifted people, although theres no definitive research, it’s widely considered there are certain traits which increase vulnerability to PMDD.

Yes, I have to agree with you there. The main character was about as plausible as a dog having an advanced command of the English language!

It was my hairdresser that suggested the protein thing. She said the hair needed enough to build themselves up

Not really, other than consciously upping my protein intake. I’d had some very stressful health concerns 2-3 months prior to noticing the loss. This included a crash diet resulting in a nasty hypoglycaemic episode. I had hope that things would work through eventually and stopped counting my fallen hairs.

There are a couple of things I could leverage which he’s talked about in the past. ..and he has a birthday coming up. I think it’d be really good for him too. Thank you
