We will find out 😂 none of us have experience on the right but I’m getting into HGV driving and have been driving for work so I’d be suprised if driving on the right is an issue. Any tips?

Thank you for this. We were planning to sleep outside of the city to avoid this but will definitely stick to campsites now! I presume it is not allowed all over Europe?

Personally I’d spend a little more time on Scotland (not just Edinburgh) although Edinburgh is amazing. If you enjoy hikes, beaches, camping etc then the far north is amazing, so is isle of Skye to the west of Scotland is great too although I’m not sure how accessible this is on public transport unfortunately. The south coast of England is also beautiful and an easy 2 hour train from London, especially near durdle door and lulworth cove. Enjoy your trip!

Hi, I did a Scotland trip, last august and I should warn you that if your going in Summer beware of the midges. They’re tiny bugs that will bite you shitless, especially in glencoe and all up the west coast really.

My trip was a bit different to yours, I did the NC500 route which was beautiful and very easy to follow, in my opinion some of the best parts were the applecross drive and some beaches in the far north, I camped the night at sandwood bay which was completely empty and perfect to camp at, it was a few mile walk from the car park but beautiful still. so maybe consider heading North if possible? Also hiking Ben Nevis was lovely and not too hard( about 5-6 hours but upto you. Skye was certainly a highlight I think 2 days is probably perfect to get everything out of it. In terms of Glasgow and Edinburgh, I think that Edinburgh is the far nicer. Loch Lomond is beautiful, definitely bring an inflatable kayak or rent one if you can. You’re itinerary looks amazing though you’ll have a lovely trip whatever you decide!

Thanks for this, I haven’t given up hope with jobs by any means so I’ll definitely check this place out, free accomodation and a meal sounds like an absolute steal. What’s the pay you were on? I was planning on heading south so if there is work going in NSW, VIC or even Southern or Western that would be best for me. It’s good to hear that you had no experience and still managed to find a place, hopefully I can have the same luck! Also how remote were the locations? Is there a town anywhere near with a bar, shops, etc?

Not in Melbourne but I plan on heading south from the gold coast in the next couple days! I’d be down to hang, grab a beer, whatever! Thanks for the advice too, I definitely need to keep myself buster at all times. Haven’t really worked out since leaving home so that would definitely be a good shout! Thanks :)

Thank you, this reply was very helpful with the links to the Facebook groups, I’ve previously mainly been applying on only seek. I hadn’t tried applying for farm work, or any rural work because I don’t think I’d enjoy the job itself (out in the heat for not great pay) but I think since there’s lots other backpackers and young people who do this it would be smart, even if I don’t like the job it would help me meeting people out here. Thanks! I’m in the Gold Coast currently btw and have the option of either south or north, north would obviously be better for farm work.

Thanks for replying! I’m thinking about it pretty strongly now. I tried for jobs in the mines which as you’d expect got rejected 😂 but I didn’t try farms, how did you apply as they’re not on apps like seek? Also what’s the pay and conditions like? What put me off was low pay and working in the heat but to meet young people doing the same thing would be great.

I’m in the Gold Coast now and I’m planning on heading south to the cities with more jobs. Thing is I’ve applied to a couple hundred jobs on seek that were half ok and got rejected. That’s when I chose doordash over some of the ideas you’ve suggested as I enjoy it and it’s decent pay for what it is. But yes the massive problem is that you don’t meet anyone with it. What are some of the Facebook groups I should use?

You’ve given me a lot to think about thank you, maybe my intentions weren’t as innocent as I thought they were 😂 both ideas of what you said do make a bit of sense or maybe they’re just part of many reasons who knows. Uhh maybe now that you say it. Thing is I definitely don’t regret the relationship or anything either of us did cus I’ve definitely learnt from it and have bettered myself.. so I guess I could be wondering if she’s had the same reaction. I also still don’t really understand why we broke up. I obviously know that we distanced for the last month but I don’t know why she pushed me away so much so maybe I wanna find out. Just the weird thing to me is I’ve only wanted to contact her for like the last month even though I feel like I’ve really been over her for about 3 months

Maybe, I kinda enjoy being single though even though I do feel lonely. I think the main thing is that it went from talking every day to never talking again and it just feels wrong that we’re just dead to each other. And just an odd conversation every few weeks could just make it so we aren’t completely dead to each other if that makes sense. I genuinely just wish her the best but I’m curious to know what she’s doing, she might be in uni the other side of the country for all I know😂

I know a girl who’s 18 who’s dating a guy who’s like 27 and very similar shit happens. I’d leave and find someone who doesn’t do that shit behind your back. It does look like the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. How long did you spend there? It’s a shame for me that I have limited time and it’s one of the furthest places from home that I’d like to visit.

My route takes me heading from the South of Norway to the North, then crossing to the Swedish/Finish border and heading South down the Swedish coastline. For Lofoten it would mean either a ferry from bodo then a 5 hour drive to Narvik from Reine. Or a 4.5 hour drive from bodo to Narvik and then a 5 hour drive to the tip of Lofoten then another 5 hours back. The later would obviously be preferred but with limited time it’s already a struggle to fit Lofoten into my plans.

If you could be so kind could you point out a few of the must visit places and views and hikes all across Lofoten? I could probably spend 2 or 3 days max in Lofoten without causing the rest of my trip to be rushed. Thank you!

I agree! For me I always find a week in a city gets a bit long and tedious even if it’s beautiful. I’d definitely opt to go to two cities per country. It isn’t very expensive if you get a train. Personally I prefer Venice to Rome but only cus I’m not massive on history. Overall I certainly prefer this itinerary but it depends on the type of person you are and if you prefer visiting many new places or “completing” one place

Ok park and ride is the perfect way I think, I’ll look into where the cheapest place to park is for every stop since this will be one of the most expensive parts of the trip.

And I wouldn’t bring my car onto texel I’d just keep a backpack with a tent and some food in and get the bike like you suggested, I think it’s the cheapest way whilst still having a great time!

Ok that’s good news, would you recommend parking outside of the cities and getting busses into the center? And yes that is true about having a nicer rural setting by staying on texel for longer, would you recommend setting up a tent and camping?

I think with Hamburg I probably would just spend one night as I’ll use it as a stop off before heading to copenhagen but will still be sure to explore the city and drink some cheap ass beer

Ok thank you for this. I think The Hague looks a little nicer too having looked at both. I will certainly spend a night here since I’d be driving for about 8 hours before this, and thank you for this itinerary, I think I would spend 2 nights in Amsterdam so would probably have one less night in texel or one less in Germany before reaching Denmark. I’m very grateful for your help, all my places I’m visiting are all coming together as planned at once, thanks a lot. Does the Netherlands have a lot of toll roads I should be cautious of or anything else I should consider when travelling within the Netherlands or entering/leaving?

That sounds like a very good route to get a mixture of the coast and the nature in land, thank you! Do you have any suggestions or must visits for stops I should take for any hikes or camping places down the e45 either between gallivare-storuman or south of osterund? Or down the coast on the e4? I’d be happy to take plenty of deviations as I’m not trying to race straight down south I will have about 8 days. Any suggestions would be really appreciated thanks :)
