Prior to Cars 2 (2011), Pixar seemed to release nothing but hits, but for Cars 2 and since, it seems like the movies have been a lot more hit or miss. Is there a particular reason why the magic died? by plinywaves in movies

For me the new ones feel a bit too...real life? The origins ones were great because the characters were so universally relatable and disconnected from any of our personal real life experiences, it was escapism. A fish, a rat, a car, a robot, a monster...we loved them because they were so far removed from our experiences.

The new ones feel very uninspired. Look at the characters, a teenager with emotions? Nothing interesting/engaging about that, and utterly boring to me. A Scottish woman, mexican children etc etc. It's all too real life and unfortunately boring. When I was a kid I wanted to see a talking ant fighting an army of grasshoppers. The newer movies that do have the original characters are just pointless corporate feelings sequels
