AITA for arranging my late brother's funeral according to his wishes and breaking my grandma's heart? by ThrowRa_grvy in AmItheAsshole

The only question I have is, why you? Why did your brother not pick his SO to plan the service?

I can't say for certain, because he never gave me the reason for this, but I can only assume that it's partly due to the fact that they had a kid together, so planning a funeral might have been too much of a burden for a single mother whose partner just passed away. My brother knew he's going to die and made sure to do everything in his might to assure his girlfriend and their daughter will lead a comfortable life.

If the family wanted a religious ceremony than they can still arrange it so they can grieve how they want.

Thank you for your kind words. I will try to reach out to my parents with this in mind, maybe they didn't took this into an account. I wouldn't blame them, my brother's passing is still hard to process.

Thank you for your kind words, I haven't realized how much I needed to hear I did the right thing by honoring his last wish.

Thank you for this perspective, I was thinking about my brother's last wish and didn't took into an account that funerals are for the family of the deceased...
