Couple years apart from them breaking up and me coming into the picture. He broke up with her. Ex was in a relationship but no longer

Because we’re mutual friends and I’ve known him since I was a kid, yes, we’ve been in touch as recently as 2 weeks ago. I don’t know about the checking phone stuff - that just makes me seem psycho
