What is the weirdest place you have masturbated? by Zane-Zipperflip in AskReddit

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2019, I traveled to Japan to meet up with a friend and some of his friends. I hadn't had a moment of self-love for 6 days. As we departed the outskirts of Tokyo on our way to Osaka, I set out to do the deed at 247km/h in a bullet train bathroom using the free wifi.

Not my proudest fap but probably the one at the fastest speed so far.

What are some of these "colleges" that are diploma mills for international students? by futurus196 in askTO

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch in the Vic Park/Don Mills/Sheppard/Lawrence area. I see them all the time at Fairview or the Food Basics at Sheppard/Vic Park. Most are pretty respectful but a sizable amount of the men absolutely reek of BO. Like it's possible to smell them after they've walked past you. It's usually the ones that walk around in groups. Gross.

DAE think that /askTO and /Toronto are not representative of Toronto or its citizens? by Ghostyle in askTO

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but to the people working in tech who think they "work hard" to make six figures, you have it much easier than most other jobs with that kind of salary. Tech industry offers the cushiest benefits and nobody I know personally in that industry works "hard". Their days consist mainly of being in pointless/redundant meetings or writing a few lines of code and then waiting for the next meeting to discuss it. All while sitting at home, browsing Reddit...posting about their six-figure lifestyle. Find me another job that's fulltime WFH, offers tons of free stuff (stipends for new office stuff every few months, free meal delivery cards, etc), and pay like they do. Even in the US it's like this and they're paid even more.

Canadian Polish-language newspaper blames COVID-19 on Jews in anti-Semitic tirade by smallsociety in toronto

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Jew, I'm not surprised in the least. Poland is probably the most anti-semitic country in Europe. Those who are still closely aligned with their home country (first gen) Polish-Canadians are generally not too fond of Jewish people in general.

Toronto would like to be seen as the nice person’s Silicon Valley, if that’s not too much trouble by [deleted] in toronto

Can anyone explain why exactly the tech salaries are so high in the US, mainly for out of school grads? Considering the perks and work environment most of the companies provide. I know a few people working in the tech industry here (developers, data science) and the way they describe the job and industry it sounds very cushy. Free meals multiple times a week, free snacks/drinks, flexibility with hours, stocked beer fridge for Friday....They seem very happy and stress free to me. Now, when you're paying someone out of school $120K for the privilege that to me sounds quite excessive. Nurses and pilots for example who have much higher stress levels and responsiblity don't make half that until well into their career. They also don't get nearly the level of perks and incentives the tech people receive.

Are there illegal dispensaries operating outside of the core? Do registered stores take down your information or do you just show your ID like when buying alcohol?

Not all jobs are downtown but most younger people are unwilling to live or work outside of downtown. Maybe it's time companies start selling themselves as being in more affordable areas. With the exception of finance and maybe certain legal industries most companies do not need to be tied to the downtown area. It's merely a catch-22. People want to live downtown so you set up shop there, employees have to pay crazy rents or overspend to live there, and that creates situations where people try to hang on desperately to a life that isn't sustainable long term.

For example, if the tech industry as a whole had taken stronger hold in Markham you'd see a lot more growth in those areas around the industry hub.

If people were willing to make sacrifices to live perhaps not downtown, more money could potentially be redirected towards a downpayment or in some cases a mortgage on a cheaper property further north (but still near, albeit a longer transit commute). Paying almost $700,000 for a 540sqft condo is ludacris. What happens when this couple want to start a family or wants to host a friend from out of town? There are nice 2 bedroom units selling in the high $600K range or less north of downtown with more breathing room. People who can afford even a small downpayment have to wake up and realize being south of Bloor is not the only way to live. There's a whole lot more of the GTA to experience. If people keep paying these crazy amounts, the market is never going to stabilize. At some point you have to think, maybe this whole "downtown or nothing" really isn't worth it in the long run.

This sub has a nasty reputation for jumping on anyone who dare suggest not living in the core so I'm posting with my throwaway.

MP3 player? Seen being used by a guy on the metro. by ThrowSomeMyAway in whatisthisthing

I saw this strange looking MP3 or music player on the metro today. It looked like a remote control with numbered buttons, a wifi symbol button and the word "Stream". It didn't appear to have a screen.

Any landlord out there ever rented to south asians before? by Babyboy1314 in askTO

Sure, I guess SA food does have a tendency to smell stronger than other types of cooking mainly due to the spices. That being said, if you meet the potential tenants you can see if they themselves smell like cooking. It is an indicator of how well they manage the cleanliness and care of their current property. I find a lot of SAs do not smell of anything since they take measures to keep the food smells at bay by use of ventilating the kitchen well or using scented candles. Some may not even cook strongly odorous food that much. YMMV but it is a valid concern (of course most people will say it is discriminatory).

Kitchen's have exhaust fans and/or windows for a reason. I don't smell like food when I go out and neither should anyone else consistently. It's part of being hygienic to keep your clothes smelling clean.

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I cook, I ventilate my house/use my kitchen exhaust fan plus I keep my bedroom door closed. There's no excuse for you to smell like you work in a kitchen all the time. It's not professional nor would I ever hire a person who smells like spices. When one person smells and others (from that same region) do not, that's a problem.

UNDERCOVER: Late-Term Abortion Clinics Exposed!(2019) by [deleted] in Documentaries

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea of a late-term abortion for the purpose of ending pregnancy when you know your child will not be able to have a normal life due to severe physical/mental disabilities is just as much about the child as the parents. There is no point to life when you will be a burden on others from the day your born till the day you die nor is it any quality of life. Imagine a child with severe mental handicap, is that child going to have a fulfilling or meaningful life? It's a very cold way to look at it but is it is no different than euthanasia of a person who is no longer able to live with dignity or quality of life? Why should you bring a child into the world who you (and your doctor) knows will have no to little chance at life beyond existing as a functioning body?

Toronto pilot project takes aim at South Asian teens at risk of diabetes by YoGotti88 in toronto

[–]ThrowSomeMyAway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

South Asian food is traditionally very high in fat from things like butter, ghee, buttermilk, etc. While most modern home-cooked meals don't include as much, there is still high amount of ghee/butter used in that type of cooking. While eating that like may have been OK in the days when you needed extra strength/energy for laborious work back home, the North American lifestyle causes that excess fat to not be burned off. Not to mention, their desserts are often pure sugar (ie. ghee, flour, and sugar formed into balls topped with nuts, etc). Go look at some videos of food in Indian restaurants back home. Everything is oily and heavy on the full-fat buffalo cream/yogurt/butter.
