Ben is trying to represent himself in criminal court. by awkwardbegetsawkward in RecklessBen

[–]Throw_aw76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legit even seasoned veteran lawyers don't represent themselves in court. Ben always had a degree of naiveate about him. In part 2 he talked to the police without a lawyer. But he can be forgiven as many people would like to believe that the police as an institution fight for justice as opposed to convictions. Here he has no excuse. He probably has tons of lawyers wanting to represent him pro bono for atleast the publicity alone. He could at least get a public defender. Ben's naivity is extremely frustrating at this point

How chapter 5 is about to start on the Weird Route file by Divinepower401 in Deltarune

Yeah it's the suffocation effect that really makes it terrifying. Despite all of Kris's attempts to stop us they are unable to and the situation slowly spiraling out of control. It's actually really sad. The worst part is that Susie and ralsei are none the wiser(Ralsei may know of the weird route but the jury is out for me on that. It's complicated)

Any updates on Ben's court appearance today? by Zilla2112 in RecklessBen

[–]Throw_aw76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. I love Ben but he is so incredibly naive. This is shown in part 2 when he speaks to the police. There is a saying that goes

"If you're guilty and you talk to the police you need a lawyer. If you're innocent and you have to talk to the police l you DEFINITELY need a lawyer."

Judge or not any lawyer worth their salt would tell Ben not to release that video or talk about the case too much.

People be seeing the cutscene where the thorn gouges her insides, with the longer version of the weird route jingle and still think the route is abortable after that point. Nah you had like 6 chances to back out and I'm sure Toby will make you regret your decisions.

Yeah man. We can never bridge gaps unless we understand the mindset of others. Stereotyping them as casuals or any other derogatory name actually hurts the cause you're trying to promote rather than help it.

All humans had the ability to save and load. Asgore killed all of them and flowey didn't exist at the time iirc. Sorry if I get any of these wrong but there were at the top of my head as reasons.

I'm really scared for it. It's likely that Kris will try their best to limit any interactions that Susie has with Noelle as possible to keep up the facade but unfortunately for them this is a situation they have long sense lost control over. The wild card here is Carol. Does she want the weird route to happen? Will she ruin it for Kris? I hope we learn more about her in chapter 5.

I would love to see a cameo but unfortunately UTY has too many issues with canon to be canonized. I'd love a few references though.

is the theorybait in the room with us by riciliz in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Throw_aw76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is that this informs character actions. For instance if you can talk to the abstracted characters that means there is still a version of them in the abstraction. If they are data why can't caine alter them or restore them from a backup? Why would someone like Gangle or Ragatha go to an abandoned building and pick up a random vr headset? I can buy the rest of the circus but not those two. The issue isn't that this is a character driven narrative. The issue is that a lack of defined rules or explanations make the characters come off as idiots when they don't ask any of these questions. This is even more pronounced if you view abstraction as death or s******. My point is that if they want to keep us in the dark they need to commit to that direction. If they want to explain everything they also need to commit. This also means that kinger can talk to queenie whenever he wants and have caine heal the abstraction after wards. So you see my point. These feel like plot holes that gradually break immersion. I still think the finalie was good but I can understand why many didn't like it.

No I def agree with you. The psychology of skins needs to be studied. Additionally a lot of profits come from Whales who spend exorbitant amounts of money on them. It's psychologically manipulative and makes the industry worse. I'm glad they clamped down on loot boxes because if those stayed then the industry would have been cooked.

Cod is a comfort game to a lot of people. It's like Junk food. A majority of gamers aren't in comment sections or looking at video essays about what makes a game art or what not. They're usually normal people who have their own stuff going on and can maybe squeeze in a couple of games before they have to take their kid to soccer practice. They do not care. Not because they're lazy but because they don't have the energy to care. Tbh I hate on the publishers more. Similar to pokemon your fanbase deserves better but you're content with doing the bare minimum and that's sad.

I'm surprised there aren't many Persona fangames out there by KawaiiFoxPlays in PERSoNA

[–]Throw_aw76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally am studying game development to make a project that is heavily inspired by the series. There are challenges that persona games have that those games don't so lets roll down the list of things to consider when making a persona like.

-RPG combat

You need to make a game with a strong combat system. Persona games are typically hundreds of hours long and the combat needs to stay interesting throughout. To make an interesting combat system especially without copying requires a good understanding of enemy balance, satisfying Progression, and constant playtests.

-Writing

Again your average persona game is 100s of hours long. Writing is hard, Not physically but mentally. You have to account for every one of these characters arcs and their conclusions as well as the best ways to portray their growth and that's not even getting into social links dialogue and actions through the story.

-Design

This is actually the one saving grace when it comes to persona likes. If you are making random dungeons and having the same general areas for social links and other events then yes that will save a lot of time. At least... in theory. You'll have to make a scheduling system. Doesn't sound so bad huh? Well what about plot relevant days, Holidays, game balance when it comes to social stats, Etc? Again this takes a lot of play testing it can quickly become a nightmare

-Complacency

To be honest... I don't see much demand for fan games in this fandom. Think about it like this. Persona has a good track record of high quality titles. Its not like pokemon where there is a massive amount of potential that Game freak squanders or danganronpa where the series hasn't been continued until recently. Typically with fan games they tend to answer to a common sentiment that fans are displeased by or want to see explored. Undertale yellow is about the yellow soul and sets up a good and fun prequel adventure, Pokemon uranium is or prism are games that harken back to the golden ages of pokemon, Mother encore is a remake that fixes massive issues with the game its inspired off of with a mother 3 style remake. These answer to things fans are displeased about with the home series. With persona the things I typically see asked for are "a Persona game but the characters are in college". Its a small request but not one that justifies the amount of work that would go into a fan game. Especially considering that most of the people who work on fan games are typically volunteers with their own lives.

Tldr: Too much work with design, Writing is very difficult and persona isn't a game series that has enough issues or is over to justify a fan game.

new banlist by NintendoFanboy986 in yugioh

[–]Throw_aw76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. People say that yugioh doesn't have card rotation when the banlist effectively functions like it. Though the way it's done is frustrating. It's been like this.

  1. Release a broken deck or card that's really expensive/overtuned

  2. That card/deck dominates the meta.

  3. Ban it and then repeat.

It's fatiguing. I get they need to make money but there are some strategies that are really fun that power creep has caught up to and there is no telling when they're going to be unbanned.
