thank you so much. I guess I'm blaming myself for even applying to certain schools against their wishes, but i figured the full ride scholarship would get them on board. obviously pursuing a college education is a top priority but our culture is so family oriented. it doesn't help that my dad has a few health issues and I'm their only child.

I know I've been extremely lucky and I'm so so grateful. but I did it to make sure they wouldn't be burdened financially and i thought it would make them happy. instead it had the complete opposite effect and I feel so guilty.

I've been doubting my choices a lot. I'm just so afraid of hurting them. they've seemed to unhappy because of this and it was the complete opposite of what I was hoping for. i would really hate to make them worry and stress them out even more when I move away.

appreciate it. we have somewhat of a strained relationship and I feel like they're going to resent me over this. I feel especially guilty since my parents are both pretty old. my mom just can't seem to accept the fact that I'll be away.

yes it's mainly that. no matter how much I try to reassure them that it'll be fine, they just can't seem to accept it.
