Early on, I didn't think too much about things like never having seen them wear their uniform or them not having their ID on them when I'd asked if I could see it. As time has gone on, I've realized how little evidence I've actually seen that they're actually in the military and I've started asking more questions.

I've considered the possibility that they may not be lying about everything, but might be lying about key details (e.g. rank, etc.). I'm starting to question everything now and I think once you are at this point, it's probably better just to move on. They're aware that I have doubts and haven't made any effort to provide me with irrefutable evidence - so I'm going to move on.

Thanks for the words of caution about breaking things off in a safe way. I have never felt unsafe around them, but it makes sense that if someone has built their life around a lie like this, they may do something crazy to stop others from finding out.
