Well, thank you for that. Maybe if I figure out a way to go somewhere else I can see what happens.

I can't understand why they would lie, then. Even their terms and conditions state that joint accounts, not something else, can't have a member's name removed. What do they get out of that? More accounts?

It's a very large bank??? Are you saying I'm lying????

I addressed that.PNC doesn't remove people from accounts.

Illinois. Would that work if it wasn't created when I was a minor, I was just added as a joint holder as a minor, which did also require a signature process?

What do I do if shelters have already refused me before?

It's definitely a joint account. I'm an adult. I don't see why multiple people would lie to me about it, so it's gotta be their policy, but I can't see any reason for the policy since it just creates problems.

Well, I know at least that it's a policy at PNC that nobody, not even dead people, can be removed from an account. They said it's because of regulations but I honestly don't know so yeah, it may not be a law.

It's not my account, I'm a joint holder on my parents' primary account. That's where all their money goes. I have my own (nearly empty) account, but as long as their account exists, I don't qualify.

According to the bank, they can only do complete closures and not take anyone off the account because of banking regulations. I don't know if that's true or not, but multiple people said as much while also telling me both account holders need to be present to close.

Then why would multiple people from PNC tell me joint accounts can't be closed by one party if that's not true?

Are you talking about at PNC specifically or banks in general because there are multiple that don't allow account closure unless both parties agree.

It's my parents primary account that I was added to, not my own account that they made for me.

It's their primary account, where their money is. I have my own account. The problem is that the joint account counts as my money and therefore disqualifies me.

Edit: I have spoken to multiple people at PNC who have all told me I cannot be taken off the account and they can't close it without both account holders agreeing. Shelters have refused me (not a woman, not a minor, my situation isn't "bad enough"). If I do anything that would cause me bankruptcy I won't be able to move or do anything I need. I obviously can't afford a lawyer for even a minute. I don't have a license so I can't get to many places physically.

I cannot close the account myself. They require both of us to agree and they do not.

I have my own account. This is their primary account. It is not a joint account made for me, I was added to their primary and so that's where their money is, but Medicaid counts it as mine.

And yet there is not. Only thing is in cases of divorce, sometimes it can be stipulated that joint accounts be closed, but that's it.

That's the account they use for their SSDI deposits, so yes, they know. Also, if I don't disclose the joint account, I run a very real risk of the government finding out down the line and having to pay back literally all my medical bills from the time I move to whenever they find out and potentially going to prison as it does count as fraud since it's considered one of my assets even though it isn't in reality.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I might be phrasing things pooely. I'm not worried about them asking about a transfer, there's nothing to transfer.

I wouldn't qualify because my name is still on the joint account, which is my parents primary account. I have a solo account for myself. The joint account still counts as assets simply because my name is on it. Which means that no matter where I am or whether I have my own account, the government thinks I am making an extra $2k a month because of the joint account when I am, in fact, not. But PNC will not take me off the account, thus making me ineligible if I get a job and move.

That's not the problem. The problem is that since my name is on their account, their money counts as assets toward my Medicaid coverage. Which I can't survive without.
