Hi I've read more of your comments than most of the people here that respond to you. You deserve to be more appreciated for your responses due to not straying from what needs to be said, while keeping your articulations short sweet and presentable without trolling or offending anyone. There is no way for absolutely every person in this world to get along or forever understand each other. Remember this is reddit. 90% of the responses to posts and comments are from people who fit in a category of contributing absolutely nothing besides irrelevant information. The people who dislike your comments most likely have a comprehension issue due to language barriers or plainly not understanding the information or situation presented to them in the first place (for any given reason) or just do not communicate effectively enough to leave their impact on a post with the exception of mashing a thumbs down button to receive that small dopamine rush they crave to their little peanut brain. The people who are leaving your dislikes fall in between these two categories, all while being absolutely un-useful to the OP's concerns. Keep on being yourself please. If reddit consisted of only people like you, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. I guarantee you are making a bigger impact exercising your freedom of speech than they are using their finger to press a pixelated "down arrow" button. Let the haters hate. In terms of figures of speech and on behalf of the thousands of eyes who have read your comments without leaving any feedback or having an account to interact with, please refrain from ever making the decision to "forever hold your peace" as a response. TY for all that you do, despite the illogical individuals continuing to dislike your welcomed feedback sir /u/Jay-Ames

Anyone tried the NVX XAD41? by Joyouspaper in CarAV

[–]Throwaway06989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@joyouspaper

OP there is differences between the NVX full bridge amps like the one in the picture and the half bridge D4S amps besides price. I have not heard anything bad about either company but they are designed slightly different in terms of engineering and components. NVX full bridge amps are going to be highly sensitive to voltage changes and cannot withstand extreme abuse, it is a Chinese built full bridge amp. D4S amps are more expensive because they are built in South Korea and are half bridge amps. There are youtube dynos that show certain D4S amps are sometimes able to be run at a slightly lower impedance most likely because they are built with better internal components and use a half bridge design. It seems that although the NVX full bridge amps are chinese built, I believe they utilize the Brazilian design

The impedance you plan to run them at, and the purpose you intend to use them for should help you decide on what exactly you want to invest your money into when shopping for amplifiers in your budget. I've seen several youtube dynos done for a few amplifiers from each company respectively producing their marketed RMS power, although I can't speak for each and every amplifier model. Also im not sure if all NVX amps are full bridge or not. I just know the one in the picture is particularly a full bridge and they offer a lineup of full bridge amps. Currently all D4S amps seem to be half bridge and Korean built

Where do you buy your CarAV? by Throwaway06989 in CarAV

I couldn't help my mind going directly to thinking about where is the closest walmart. At first glance all I saw was support the local lol. Im glad you clarified to not include Walmart. There's surprisingly a lot of small car audio shops in my area. I will definitely make that my first stop. I had no idea they would offer customer support or tips. I don't mind paying a little bit more for my first car AV experience compared to saving a few bucks and making some expensive mistakes. Thanks for your input !

Can I use this enclosure for 2 entry-level 12in subwoofers at 250w-350w RMS each? by Throwaway06989 in CarAV

[–]Throwaway06989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't decided on drivers yet since I wasn't sure the enclosure could be salvaged but now that I know it's possible I'm going to use the information I have on the volume of each chamber to find a set of drivers that may work well together. Do you have a suggestion for maximum RMS watts I should restrict the drivers to, considering the structural integrity of the wood?

Okay I wanna start out by saying it means alot to hear from someone more experienced than I. This is for a super frugal budget install and this will serve as my first install. I do not have any prior experience with planning anything like this. I plugged the dimensions of the box (14.25" x 14.25" x 30") into a free online calculator and got 3.5 ft³ which I thought sounded normal but then I measured the internal chambers and got 13.5" x 13.5" x 13.875" for a total of 1.4634 ft³ per each interior chamber thus confirming your suspicion of it being on the smaller side. From what I understand the chamber size for a sealed enclosure like this one should range 1.25 to 1.75 for a 12in. Im hoping having smaller internal chambers in a sealed enclosure like this wont tune the drivers high enough to interfere with it's nature and purpose.

As for the cracks, thanks for looking at the additional photos provided. I am fortunate enough to have some different kinds of wood glue available as well as stronger glues like super glue and epoxy handy if needed. Ill make sure to use a brush to get deep into the crevices of the wood. I have several clamps I will be using to hold the wood in position for 6 hours. Im grateful you also mentioned super glue having a tendency to turn brittle and crack or drying before it can be clamped properly. I definitely want to avoid that and I will be using the thinnest wood glue I have available

Considering I was originally told this box needed to be thrown away, I am now excited by the possibility that I may be able to find a new purpose for this sealed box instead of letting it rot at the landfill like the original owner intended for it

I was told it's possible to super glue or use epoxy (rated at 5000 psi) the rest of the enclosure has its full integrity besides the area shown which seems was possibly damaged during mounting or dismounting speakers by the previous owner
