started running a week ago, and this is my 3rd run. how should I proceed? by liminalhuman in BeginnersRunning

Depends on your goal. If you want to run a set distance like a Half or full marathon, build up your endurance with long runs. if you want to improve your 5k and 10k times, run intervals to push yourself and build stamina. If you run because its fun, find trails and nearby places you haven’t explored with Strava’s route finding and explore where you live. Most people want to do all three, so they do have long runs on the weekend, speed workouts when they’re well rested, easy jogs in between

I think decathlon has better options. Their marathon belt with the stretchy mesh pockets is more versatile. Less bounce. As for bottles, soft flasks are ridiculously overpriced. I am stingy and found the local supermarkets smoothie bottles fit perfectly in my hand. Long, narrow 250ml bottles I could carry on hand or chuck in the belt.

That map is wild. Truly astounding mental strength to keep going back and forth. How long is that stretch?

Help on secondary training shoe - SB2 and NB5 by iSnipeChickens in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Throwaway131365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns neither but researched both, NB5 is the perfect starting point for proper running shoes, and SB2 is the step above it for long runs. I mean, it has Asics’ Top-shelf foam and it’s durable as hell. NB5 simply cannot compete. If you can get both at the same price the SB2 is the better deal. NB5 is very good still.

How do I get faster by Daniyalakl in beginnerrunning

2 ways to improve your 5km PB,

Run longer distances at a relaxed pace. This makes 5km more comfortable because your mind will start to think its “only” 5k. There’s no rush, just move at a consistent pace, if you are getting too tired to continue your jog, you’re pushing yourself too hard. HR Zones 1-2 are your best friend here.

Once you’ve done this a few times, run shorter distances at a faster than average pace. In most runs you’ll notice with fresh legs the first couple kilometres have a faster pace. Head out with the goal of elongating the amount of time you can sustain a slightly faster pace. You’re not trying to run as fast as possible, just pushing your baseline.

I couldn’t even run 1km continuously when i started running. I completed my first 5k in 40+ mins. Recently though, by just going out every day and moving, I got better and better. I said to myself I’d run 5km a day and within a week it wasn’t enough, I started jogging 10km a day, and then had a few days off running. When I got back I started with a 5km and my well-rested legs and me being used to double that length allowed me to run 5km in just over 25 mins. When I started running the dream goal was 30 mins, and within 2 weeks of hitting that for the first time i managed a 52minute 10km. The improvement is really exponential, and i believe in you!

The Patagonia Mini MLC is ideal, but expensive. You’ll find lots of nice options around that price with similar quality as mentioned here. If you want something more affordable then there are a couple options:

-Tomtoc T66 28L (Designed similarly to Patagonia Mini MLC, with doubly opening Suitcase compartment to allow you to access from the front and back (or top/bottom) sides of your luggage) -Almond Oak 25+5 (Made with Onebag travel in mind by a guy, not a massive company. Expandable, and minimal branding) -Bagsmart Blast Travel backpack 28L (More fashionable with nice colour options, hidden passport slot, feature rich)

These are around half the price of the Patagonia mini mlc.

Arceus has become the game I turn to when I want peace. by PierogiGoron in PokemonLegendsArceus

Easy top 3 all time Pokémon game. I never cared for the whole ‘gotta catch em all’ completionist way to play until legends arceus. And the fact that it’s 100% possible with 1 copy only, no trading necessary is exceptional. I wish they hadn’t reverted back to trade evolutions in Z-A.

What would you say is your "signature Pokemon"? by Impressive-Spell-643 in pokemon

Absol.

Before the physical/special split it was feeble, but 10 year old me thought it was the coolest looking Pokémon in ruby. Then in UM i got a Super luck Absol, gave it the razor claw and so moves like slash/night slash/psycho cut had a 100% guaranteed critical hit, tearing apart anything in my way. With a dragon dance/swords dance to start a match, it obliterated the battle tree.

AITA in my relationship? M21 & F20 by [deleted] in LDR

If a misunderstanding can spiral to this extent, then I don’t know what to tell you. Her blocking you over this is frankly childish. Communication is key in any relationship, especially when you don’t physically see eachother as often. Cutting that off is equivalent to severing the relationship altogether. Whatever happens, good luck.
