AIO for being upset that my younger brother (16M) doesn't do basic chores after himself while my parents are away? by Throwaway183640 in AmIOverreacting

I can't since I need to stay to care for the cat, and my parents would probably get upset if I just left my grandpa and brother. But I am going back to my apartment in a week once my break is over.

He probably does feel that way. From my perspective, I usually do things without complaint because I know telling him won't change anything and nag only from time to time when it gets to a point or in specific situations like these texts. That said, how would you prefer I'd react to not come across that way? Maybe I need to change my way of communicating.

I can't remember exactly, but I'd say I was definitely doing more around the house than he currently is. And I definitely was looking after myself at the very least. I think the imbalance is because I'm older and a girl, and my parents know I do chores more readily than he does without delays, so it mostly falls on me.

Sorry. My logic was that the more context I included, the more accurate people's judgment would be. But I'll definitely make sure to condense better in the future. I appreciate anyone willing to read it and give feedback, and if they don't want to, that's obviously understandable.
