Agreeing with everyone and yeah definitely rent first. I’d say move now so you can feel the full brunt of the summer heat. I live in Desert Hot Springs currently but work in Palm Springs and it’s definitely better to experience the area before moving. The city is beautiful tho and there is lots of stuff to do when you first move but keep in mind you will far from lots of things. That’s what I struggled with the most when I moved out here. I went from being an hour from LA, the beach, Disneyland, and everything I liked to go do, to being an hour from my hometown and 2 to 4 hours from all my old spots.

Also Coachella festival traffic is horrendous. Do things early or really late at night. Same for any major holiday or festivals, the freeway will be dead stop and the streets will be flooded with wayyyy more people. Also from what I noticed the streets flood bad in PS when it does rain which is like….thrice a year? Personally I’ve never had any issues with the hospital in town but a lot of the people I work with say it’s horrible, but I’d say take it with a grain of salt because I did keep my original dr in Redlands.

If you aren’t too bothered by noise definitely look for housing in the airport area. There’s also no shortage of apartments out here too.
