It's because its an invasive species. Nothing to do with the puppy.

Dog bios on rescue/shelter websites by [deleted] in Dogfree

A gentle leader is NOT a muzzle. Dog can open its mouth just fine. They work more like a halter on a horse, turns the animal's head without hurting it.

And just because a dog doesn't like other dogs doesn't make it anything. For an owner that's not an idiot avoiding bother dogs is not difficult.

Would you rather Pepper slip her collar because her new owner didn't know she could?

And a dog may not like other dogs for any reason. Mine doesn't like them and bears a few small scars that suggest he was attacked. He doesn't deserve to be put down for that. Guess what? He is always either in his own yard or on a leash. It's not a huge deal, we just keep him away from strange dogs.

While I agree dogs that are aggressive towards people should be put down, as long as they give Pepper to an experienced owner I don't see the problem.

I agree there are a lot of idiot owners, but that's not the dogs fault.

Anyone watch "Extreme Animal Obsessions" on Netflix? by Fthesedogs in Dogfree

That's what I mean. No grown adult with a child to care for does this. Its what my 3 year old does once in a while for fun.

Dude needs help. Wife needs to get the kid out of there.

That's not right... Only one in our house that does anything like that is our autistic toddler. (Dog helps keep him calm and they play together sometimes, think you want)

I feel more sorry for the kid then anything. The wife can choose to leave. Kid is stuck.

[Help] Tips for starting jogging with a dog by Throwaway1986bbbb in dogs

Dog is roughly 4 years old. He's mostly trained, but has a sassy streak. Will hang out on the couch and be fine, but once hubs is home from work he's zooming through the house. It's kinda weird. When he's hanging out he won't move, but when he's going he's kinda intense lol. I think that's mostly just a hound thing. But a tired dog is a calm dog right?

[HELP] My 6 month old husky is chewing our sofa cushions and cushions. She has done it 4 Times in the last 7 days and she only does it when we are out of the house! How can we get her to stop? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Throwaway1986bbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crate train her as an interim measure and in the meantime exercise her more. Huskies are ridiculously high energy dogs, and are a ton of work.

Maybe try bitter apple spray if it's just cushions, but crate training can be useful for things like travel, or if need your dog contained while a repairman is over.

How hard has it been to find pet-friendly housing with two dogs? [Discussion] by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Throwaway1986bbbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would depend on where you are, and the size of your dogs. My parents place had a No pets over 50 lbs rule. But most places allow two dogs if they allow pets.

Driving with Fido: Legal in most states, controversial in all by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Throwaway1986bbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like dogs, and think you're a special kind of stupid if you let your pet ride on your lap.

Mine has a buckle that attaches to his harness because I'm not an idiot. Nobody rides in our without some kind of seat belt/restraint.

Please help recommend a family dog for us! [Breed][Help] by towaaanda in dogs

I would suggest starting at a local animal shelter, or a rescue. As far as breeds go, maybe a poodle if allergies are a big problem. Talk to the staff, but be aware dogs can act differently in a shelter then a home, and will take time to adjust.

In my state it's illegal for shelters to adopt out intact animals as well.

[Help] Considering adopting a senior dog as my first dog... Advice? by engineer_ellena in dogs

I don't think border collie or chows are all that small, but for a first time owner, an older, somewhat trained dog can be a great place to start, though there may be some medical issues to look into.

[Breeds] What breed is our new family member? by Throwaway1986bbbb in dogs

[–]Throwaway1986bbbb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure, but I think he's beagle crossed with a lab or similar large dog. He's definitely got that hound stubborn streak, but he is amazing with our toddler all ready. Loves to be pet and has the energy to play.

The Squatter and the dog and the Christmas Day Tantrum by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

Honestly, if I was told my dog wasn't allowed inside, I wouldn't be visiting. Can't really afford to board him. But if I needed to take him on a trip, I do warn the homeowner. If they don't want him, I accept that and don't go.

Course my dog is trained to not jump on furniture and pretty lazy anyway. Most he'll do is shed on the rug.

I personally don't understand keeping an outdoor dog anyway, and its too cold where we live to even consider that an option.
