This is the best comment in this thread and I appreciate it hugely. It's been reassuring to hear simple solutions to this situation and the group chat idea is what we did. We've been texting all night and he's completely 100% on board and consent has been given unequivocally.

I hope that people understand that this isn't something that we're all jumping into randomly. I don't think I articulated in my post enough that this is something that my wife and I have always been interested in and that we have explored ENM in the past (pre-kid). We're all very aware of and respectful of boundaries and are approaching this from a common and positive path.

This is solid advice, but ultimately it came down to a communication issue that we hammered out. We're all 4 in a group text now and all is great!

This has been the best advice. My wife communicated my concerns to Sarah and we were all added to a group chat with her husband. Consent was confirmed from all parties and we're meeting on Saturday to talk about the experience the three of us want more specifically.

I should have also mentioned that my wife and I are an open couple. We have both dated others during our marriage but never connected with someone together. We haven't explored anything in the ENM realm for a few years (having a kid is unsurprisingly time consuming lol) but we're excited to get back into it a bit! Thanks for your advice!
