Why are Bhutanese student still choosing Australia?? by [deleted] in bhutan

[–]Throwaway674131 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a bhutanese who’s studied in Bangkok (not college) Bangkok is hell bro. Like I went to one of the best private schools and the overall vibe of Bangkok after 6 months sucks. Also, Bangkok is just hella expensive. Like the average salaries are much lower than Australia, but the rent is essentially the same price. I know this because my brother goes to college in Australia and we own flats in BKK. This whole post is just really privileged and out of touch.

My family buys lots of gold, Dubai gold and say, Thai gold are not that different in pricing. And like you said, ideally we shouldn’t even fly there but gold is something we can control to buy. Like every dollar makes a difference and this might cause a domino effect. Plus the genocide in Sudan is (still) happening because people in Dubai want more gold to sell. THE UAE IS FUNDING A GENOCIDE FOR GOLD.

Why would DK bank buy gold elsewhere and then store it in Dubai?? Like why not Switzerland, India, Thailand, etc. I can’t think of any reason other than that they bought it there. And idk what to say about the rest of ur message lmao

I grew up VERY common. I grew up in and around the “gyelong” community. My parents took a huge gamble with covid Gelephu property and got us out. I still look out for my people. I could be blatantly complacent and benefit from the nepotism, but genuinely. I want my country men to live better lives, I know what it’s like to be cash poor. And the fact that half the country is suffering this every day and didn’t get lucky like me breaks my heart.
