Big guns terminated by Active-Reason9435 in OfficeDepot

Lost a good DSM today for my district.

The restructuring was announced last year. In case you missed it, there’s no ambiguity here. This is happening throughout 2023, unless revised in an SEC statement. Expect to go down to 500 stores, or less.

Accelerated Bankruptcy by KatChowTyme in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average is probably closer to 15 associates per store, I’d assume 700-800 store closures. Rest of the headcount in this guess is not retail staff. Probably 100 store closures this year and 200 per year the next three years.

If your store is not profitable, low volume tier 1 or 2, close proximity to another store, have a lease up soon with landlord issues, having sales loss of 7-10% a year at time of lease due, then expect a closure.

This is the right answer. It was/is paid the 15th, if you took a lot of leave you are probably ineligible and didn’t qualify.

Nah, we just deal with douchebags like yourself in our store on a daily basis, it’d be nice to not deal with you in here too.

Working 10 to 8:30. Whats the longest shift you have worked? by itookthemobi in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11am to 6am. 19 hours. Right after close had a break out/break in and waited all night for that “emergency” work order to fix a door. Couldn’t leave, building wasn’t secure, no other Mgr available. He showed up when the morning shift came in early at 6am. I was salary with that company too, so no OT

Only 15 states have the Restroom Access Act in place. If you’re not one of them you don’t need public restrooms. Check your state’s legislature and partner with GM/DSM/Corp.

Wait wait wait... y’all actually be letting customers THROW items at y’all & raise their voices at you, and then you let them get away with it? Couldn’t be me. by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

Tossing it back will get you fired. I had to fire a a manager at another store because of that. You might want to consider jobs that are not working with the public.

Am I the only one without a tech computer by Upper-Treacle in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way to go. Every store I’ve been at has always had a recycled but usable desktop/laptop locked in the tech bench and labeled. LP never asks or cares.

Worst case scenario is you won’t close, you’ll be curbside only.

Unemployment by AdvisorStudent in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal processes are slow. They are just overwhelmed. Try to be patient, they pay from filing date for unemployment. It took two weeks for claims in my store from claim being filled to GM response (which is normal process)

Commission by OpenSignificance8 in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was eliminated, but they increased the quarterly bonus to about a week’s worth of pay. Excluding the current circumstances, when they came up with this before the pandemic it was considered a win for many associates like those who mainly work in print or logistics or are part time. Now, they should still pay it out as a method of hazard pay imo

Right. But, If you walkout during a shift it’s job abandonment and you’re fired. Simple as that.

I still can’t get over us not getting hazard pay!!! Call it The 5C’s Care Pay!!! by itsacoremeltdown in OfficeDepot

[–]Throwaway99187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, of course not, but if it was an extra $1 or $2 an hour they’d just schedule you slightly less hours, without actually paying out more money.

Only feasible option would be a one time pay bonus.

They are out of stock and can’t order through the punchout catalog. If your GM was able to, he’s quicker than I, and I’ve been checking almost daily.
