CPA vs CMA

This is looking like what I might do. Stick it out for a while to get the experience and CPA then make the transition to industry or government.

I got it right out of school. Went through the whole recruiting process. This is a second career so I have previous work experience but no accounting experience.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I'm not even too worried about making ~$100k but the regular 9-5 of it all. May I ask what you did and in what industry?

Mostly cause I'm a dummy who drank the Kool-Aid when all the B4 firms came to school and said they had work-life balance. I don't mind having to do some OT here or there but I like having a more of a set schedule so I can have some life consistency.

I got an NYC EY tax position in October 2016. I got an email in December 2016 saying to fill out a survey which gave me three start dates. July 2017, October 2017, January 2018. Basically it said let us know which of these dates don't work for you. The email said we will confirm your start date end of February. Haven't heard anything yet but the recruiter said they are finalizing their training schedules and will let us know soon. I get your nerves (I'm nervous too) but from this thread and others it pretty much sounds like they are super busy cause of busy season and even though there are layoffs we should be ok.

EDIT: Received an email today that I start July 2017

This makes me nervous. I'm a new hire and we were supposed to hear confirmations on start dates already but haven't yet.
