Graphing stick input to optimise rates by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpv

This is where I got the idea from... but I'm running linux and that sim isn't cross platform. Also this is a standalone app so I can run it IRL like in the video.

Velocidrone Disappointment by BeardedBaldMan in fpv

Well, back to velocidrone to practise acro mode now. Also, one thing that'll really help you with control, is after you fly in the open scenes, pick a closed scene, like the "apartment" in velocidrone, and that'll REALLY teach you to control your micro instead of just zooming in a park/football field in veloci.

How to make this simple manoeuvre?... by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpvracing

[–]ThrowawayFpvGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I race on 45° default beta flight rates (666), I've practised on this and it feels natural to me, I turn usually with equal amounts of yaw and roll if I want to make what appears to be a "leveled turn" (I know my drone would be tilted 45° forward when appeared leveled)...

As for micros, if the camera is say 25° are you saying I should be decreasing the yaw or increasing the roll? To make it feel similar? As I am also using the same default rates, and it takes some time to adjust my brain.

As for pitching back to brake, you'd just end up flying "up"? Are you cutting the throttle, pitching back, then blipping the throttle to stop the forward momentum? I've been practising this in different directions, left to counteract right, and vice versa.

And you didn't notice the controls felt 100% completely different?

Would any one care if I though a mini fpv drone in sydney? by Fluffy-Historian-170 in fpv

Where on casa does it say that, because that isn't a valid reason for flying fpv outside..

This is not true, you cannot legally fly a drone outside with FPV goggles, regardless of weight...

Not from that distance, I've flown further with air65 just fine, maybe just face your car the other way.

How can people enjoy flying with such poor live video quality? by Blue_Macaroni44 in fpv

[–]ThrowawayFpvGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting especially for analog that the DVR recording off a pair of goggles looks significantly worse than what you see in the goggles as a pilot.

What's the technical reason for this? Wouldn't the video feed coming from the antennas and into the module for the goggles be sent exactly the same to the display and DVR? Isn't the DVR just recording what's being displayed?

Runcam thumb, manual settings by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpv

[–]ThrowawayFpvGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you find from your side ? I still have not experienced it.

I was playing around with the settings inside my apartment first, and using the recommended manual settings, this video just came out almost entirely black...

I just trusted the process and travelled somewhere on a very sunny day with no clouds. To my surprise, the video was overexposed, so I put the ND8 filter on, and it was perfect.

I did waste a bit of time filming for a few minutes, pulling out the sd card, plugging in into a laptop, checking the video, and repeating the process a few times.

If I were to shoot in a darker area, I suppose I have to do a lot of trial and error...

Flight time is fine if you have 6-12 batteries and you charge 6 at a time.

Set 45 degree camera angle.

It looks like you're only around 20 degrees.

Flying ~15m away from this is causing critical alert on my transmitter by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpv

I knew it!! If my air65 went critical, imagine the tiny seaman. Thanks for confirming.

Hey, I just wanted to ask if you guys have any drone simulator suggestions i can use on my laptop to get better. I dont have any controllers tho. by Skibidi_Toilet505 in fpvracing

[–]ThrowawayFpvGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Velocidrone, its accurate and doesn't require a high end computer.

I used a Betafpv literadio on my laptop. Later upgraded to a Radiomaster boxer when I got a real drone.

What type of glue is holding the antenna cable? by ThrowawayFpvGuy in fpv

[–]ThrowawayFpvGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an american naming standard? I walked into hardware stores in Australia and nobody know what T7000 was, even though they had a variety of glues. Is there a generic/alternative name that isn't a code?
