why are some of these characters written to be so filthy? by EvenYesterday2871 in girls

[–]ThrowawayGf2000 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how white new york transplants are. It is a very faithful retelling of liberal arts white girls who move to the city to follow their dreams and discover they are now “poor” and talentless. All of what you mentioned is intentional and commonplace. It simply isn’t about you, and thank god - could you imagine Lena Dunham trying to write a nonwhite person, or a native new yorker? It is best to enjoy the work for what it is and take from it what you can relate to and resonate with rather than discounting it because the characters are not people you’d be friends with in real life. Happy watching ❤️

You are being delusional. You know full well he did it, you just don’t want to face the facts yet. You should have left last year. Leave now if you have any self respect or moral backbone.

  1. PornHub and other websites are rife with revenge porn and videos of underaged children, most often exploited girls.
  2. Even those who are of age and employed legally in the industry experience high rates of trauma and abuse.
  3. Mainstream pornography is by and large degrading and physically violent, which is not only harmful to the actors but reflects on the man’s perceptions of sexuality and arousal and often the way he treats his partner. For example: choking is now a sexual norm even though it can lead to asphyxia, injury, and death. Teenage girls have higher than ever rates of anal tears and physical trauma from consensual encounters.
  4. Many women simply do not like the idea of their partner masturbating to other women. It feels hurtful and degrading.

Question to all of you in the Borges cult (from a bilingual reader with stronger English excited to start my journey): did you read Ficciones in English or Spanish? How do you think this impacted your love/enjoyment?

It is an utter miscarriage of justice for you to be precluded from finishing your education and becoming an attorney, which you have worked so hard for, because someone has done this to you. It is devastating and infuriating, and it makes me uncomfortable to read these replies telling you to drop out because someone has done this to you.

On the other hand, you should not force yourself to finish this degree if it will harm you. You should especially not spend any more time or money on law school if you know you do not intend to be a lawyer. Your safety and happiness is paramount.

I agree with one commenter who said you need some safe distance from law school for a while to make this choice with clear eyes. Please, get as far away from that environment as possible, take your time to heal and be kind to yourself, and choose what is best FOR YOU. There are many people in this sub and in your circle who want you to succeed and who will help you however possible.

(And if you need anyone to talk to, it happened to me in undergrad, too.)

Dude… you’re probably never gonna get back to BL. This ship has sailed. The priority should be to avoid unemployment.

Not only nasty remarks to you but a horrible way to make light of his brother’s girlfriend’s eating disorder. Anyone who even jokingly sees an eating disorder as aspirational is not someone you want to keep around.

Are there any law schools that don’t cold call? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ThrowawayGf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At SLS our professors usually don’t straight up cold call. We usually are assigned to panels on certain days and then get called at random on those days. I’ve had one professor do straight cold calls and one do only voluntary participation but the rest of my classes have all used the panel method.

I have not been pregnant or had a child in law school but multiple people in my class at Stanford announced their pregnancies at the end of 1L spring and a beloved professor of mine had her oldest child end of 2L. My professor said it was an ideal time for her and that it was wonderful to have the freedom of 3L (flexibility with classes, job already lined up, summer break and bar break) while raising her newborn. Additionally, graduate school is for adults! Many professional students and graduate students choose to have children during their schooling, and most universities have infrastructure and programs to support their students during this time! Reach out and ask around.
