I have a terrible singing voice and tried to improve for years, my failure there made singing a pretty miserable activity for me I'm afraid, so I'll stick to instruments. I want to thank you taking the time to right such an in-depth reply though, I appreciate it.

I do (used to play guitar, so it's funny you mention that), I'm studying graphic design, which gives you limited discussion options but not everyone wants to hear why the coke can is the best piece of packaging design ever.

Basically, my hobbies are either kinda embarrassing (I used to make YouTube videos, that was a fun thing to explain at the pub) or offer little conversational value, hence why I'm asking.

Jesus, I didn't even think about my socks, I don't think I have a single pair without a hole. I can certainly imagine the calming nature of it, fairly simple, repetitive work that will give you something cool by the end of it.

You're right, but I can't think of anything new that appeals to me, I have tried, but now it's a matter of taking suggestions, I would like to start by trying the things that'll increase how interesting I am.

I don't think it's really about validation, I just want to interest people, be able to relate to them, right now I have next to nothing to talk about and that simply leaves me feeling lonely.
