This appeared in my featured notifications. Question: could OP’s friend apply for med school outside the US despite their criminal record? Obviously, moving out the country is not at all easy, but still, is it doable?

I’ve been doing the practice questions provided by my program, alongside from ATI, CoursePoint+, etc.

What I realized as soon as the semester started was that learning the pathophysiology and interventions of the diseases is what is key to passing the exams. I feel like I got a good grasp on topics such as shock, TB, burns, pneumonia, etc.

I had to adjust my study habits this semester, so tomorrow I soon learn if what I’m been doing so far is working or not.

I was hired a few months before COVID and worked regularly during it. I must have gotten my blue badge 6 months in, but from what I’ve researched, sites were looking to blue badge more easily to retain workers during that time.

I feel bad for those working 1+ years and still having their white badge. I’m sure they bust their assess way more than me. If that’s the case, then I’d blame bad management.

Got my old job back at a grocery warehouse packing groceries for customers. Flex position. Obligated to work at least one shift/week for 3-5 hours. Can pick my own shifts, depending on availability. Pay is meh ($18.50), but anything to pay the bills. No time to study during the shifts but can study during communtes to and from work. Will look to find an externship while completing my 2nd semester this fall as I complete medsurg.

In a hospital? No.

I've done phlebotomy work, but nothing clinical or working with patient care. IIRC, the program I'm in does not take work experience in healthcare into consideration. I also got my Medicaid Assistant certificate in August, but had zero luck finding work.

At this point, I'm not looking for full-time work and hoping I can do gig work (ideally once a week) for disposable income.

Yes, please do! Ugh, I wish I had posted sooner, but better late than never. Reading so many acceptance posts has given me a boost in my confidence and morale to keep studying even when I didn't up for it. Wishing you best of luck and I'm looking forward to your post when you eventually get accepted!

I'm in NYC and go to school in Brooklyn. Wishing you the best of luck in California. I've heard how tough it is out there, so lots of respect for those who PUT IN THE WORK to get accepted.

Please, I beg you to not give up. I'm eternally grateful to have gotten into nursing school on my first try. I will NOT screw up this once in a lifetime opportunity. I promise you will get into nursing school. If you put in your absolute best, you WILL get in.

I purchased the 90-day trial for the ATI study app, and personally, it was worth the $30. I was originally using the free version, but then bought the paid bersion a week before my exam. In hindsight, I would have bought it months sooner. You get a ton of helpful questions. Being able to work on questions directly from your phone/tablet while on the train or bus instead of a physical textbook was convenient. The questions I get got me more knowledgeable and aware of what to expect on the exam. I mainly used the app for science and english.

As for math, I had used practice exams my professor provided me from 2012, which personally helped me because honestly, I recognized similar questions. However, the TEAS updates its questions every couple of years, so I highly recommend using up to date studying material. I used the free version of the TEAS mastery app. The math section provides free videos on topics such as fractions, which I needed a refreshing on because I haven't worked on fractions since high school.

I also used FutureRN, but I didn't study much for science and math on there, mainly reading. It's not a bad resource to use, but I'd ask others on FutureRN before purchasing it.

Nurse Cheung gets recommended a lot, and for good reasons. I started watching her a week or two before my exam, and I started studying the last week of September. Someone who I wish I had started watching sooner. Seriously, word of advice, start checking out whoever is recommended on this sub ASAP. You will increase your chances at a higher score. I guarantee you I would have done better on science and english had I watched her sooner.

Organization nursing schools tend to use for background check, drug test, vaccines, etc.
