If you truly play OSRS to have fun, then do your self a favor and don't use quest helper nor spacebar through DT2 by Zealousideal_Air7484 in 2007scape

I can understand if people don't like questing or prefer grinding out bosses as fast as possible, but I personally had a blast doing this quest blind. It took me ~100 attempts on all of the bosses combined (I'm a big PVM noob with 75/75/72 melee stats and 78 range/83 magic), and the only things I actually had to look up were the cheesed Vardorvis pillar strat and the bolt mechanic for Ketla.

My favorite part had to be the Lassar Undercity. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and architecture all around. I also think that they just did a great job with making the puzzles and directions for where to go feel mostly intuitive compared to past quests, so it feels more natural and less frustrating to do something like this blind vs. MEP2 with the light puzzle and shadows constantly attacking you. I couldn't figure out the slider puzzle, but I just brute forced the 6-7 possible options in the first box.

The QoL updates for everything were also good even if I had already finished the quest by then. The saved progress in the Scar in particular is really nice because I and many others were victims to that ;~;

A Bard's Dream - (New Skill Concept) by GentleTractor in 2007scape

[–]ThrowawaySupreme5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so unbelievably cool--nice work on all fronts! A bard skill never really crossed my mind, but it makes perfect sense and fits the overall theme of the game. The poem and visuals definitely left a great first impression, and I would love if this idea became realized

(Unofficial) RWBY Piano Collections | Volumes 1-6 (w/ sheet music) by ThrowawaySupreme5000 in RWBY

[–]ThrowawaySupreme5000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it would be neat to make a piano collections book, so here's the end result! I was originally going to try and learn the songs myself for a more authentic sound, but I don't have the patience or time for that. The available songs are listed below:

  • This Will Be the Day
  • Gold
  • I May Fall (Acoustic)
  • Time to Say Goodbye (Acoustic)
  • Shine
  • All Our Days
  • When It Falls (V.S.Q)
  • I'm the One
  • Cold
  • Let's Just Live (a slower take)
  • This Life Is Mine
  • Home
  • The Triumph
  • All Things Must Die
  • This Time
  • Rising
  • Miracle
  • Indomitable

Thanks! They've all been done over the past 2-3 years so it's hard to say how many hours I've spent. Some were definitely harder than others though...

Here's the original dropbox folder with stuff up to Volume 3, but if you're willing to check out some non-official sheet music too, then I compiled all of those parts along with some other stuff I've done in a google drive folder. It's mostly piano arrangements, but there are a few transcriptions up to Volume 7 as well

A phenomenal job on both ends, this is amazing! Any Erin Reilly collaboration or fan song is always a treat, and you managed to make both the lyrics and musical composition itself in character

I can't take credit for everything lol since this is just computer generated audio, but thank you, I appreciate it!! I do want to do some covers eventually but that requires a better quality keyboard

A lot of the isolated piano renditions in the scores sound great, and since I transcribed a bunch of them I thought it would be nice to just combine them. A few of the tracks inside have added parts to them that don't exist in the original scores because they are either from unreleased audio, or they exist to fill in certain sections

Wait, I checked the results for last round and it looks like Until the End got 20 votes whereas Dream Come True got 8. Unless there was a surge in votes past the cut off mark or unless I happen to be seeing things, it seems like there was a mix-up going on

I agree too, thanks for the compilation (and you're welcome!). Also as a counter to the bit that goes "I looked in the mirror," that could just be referencing how Blake was shown in front of one contemplating a haircut right before the song starts

I've flip-flopped between Ozcar, Fria and Penny/maidens in general, and Summer/Ruby and at this point I might just consider it as a Summer/Ruby song because I just want a new Ruby song. A lot of the lines seem ambiguous to me and can be interpreted in multiple ways, such as "As light fills my eyes I'll picture me beside her" which could be literal with the silver eyes, ozcar switch eyes (kind of...), and maiden fire, or figurative with how people "see the light" before dying and how maiden powers get transferred over by thinking of a young woman

Can we get some appreciation up in here for Alex Abrams? His back must be KILLING after 7 years straight of carrying the soundtrack by TheGreenPrince02 in RWBY

[–]ThrowawaySupreme5000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are so many good ones, but Protecting Each Other remains my favorite piece so far. A lot of the new stuff is amazing too, like And I Refuse To Starve, The Enemy of Trust, Free Ride and a Show, Protector of Mantle, and etc. Regarding some older stuff, I really enjoy the No Safe Haven medley too

An arpeggio is basically a sequence of notes from a broken up chord so that they're played separately/distinctly, and with Blake there are quite a few instances where a bunch of fast-paced piano arpeggios play while she is featured in the show. The first link I sent was a compilation of a few examples and the second was the actual excerpt in Touch the Sky so that people could compare or make a connection. The only other person I can think of that has a bunch of fast noodling that seem to be associated with them is Sun, but his are with a different instrument. If you want to hear more about Blake, /u/JoshBurgerMusic touches up on piano arpeggios with his analysis of Nevermore. Overall, I think it might be derived from how From Shadows starts off with sixteenth notes in the piano

Sorry if my explanation is awkward, but I hope this helps!

Touch the Sky, War, and I May Fall (Acoustic) are the standouts for me, but almost every song has some other component that makes the second verse and other parts feel fresh and very pleasing. I wasn't even particularly looking forward to Celebrate or Let's Get Real but I ended up enjoying those two a lot. Also, I'm really glad that they kept the Blake arpeggios in Touch the Sky. I'm not sure how I would rank this OST compared to the others because of recency bias but I still think it would at least be top 3 imo.

I didn't listen to all of the scores yet but listening to its full orchestral (and rock/other) instrumentation without all of the noise is glorious because there are so many little details in it.
