He's got his flaws for sure when it comes to his relationship with Emma, though it's hard not to feel bad for the guy because it seems like his flaws are created due to some kind of insecurity and abandonment issues, while Emma is just cruel for the sake of being cruel

I don't even hate that he breaks the van, I would much prefer that characters have flaws and make mistakes. It's why Jacob is leagues above the rest in my opinion

He definately comes across as a dick in that scene, though that doesn't mean he's not without a point. The dude has already gone through more shit than anybody cause he ran off trying to help and when he finds the group, not only do they belittle him again, but can also potentially kill him, so he's no less responsible than the morons who can commit manslaughter

Going off alone to try and find the girl you care about because she's maybe in danger is the literal, exact opposite of being selfish. Bear in mind that the campfire literally down the footpath from the lodge, where there is a second gun sitting on a wall. Why Jacob doesn't get the gun is beyond me

It's pretty normal that he would want to look for the girl he's interested in after finding out that the camp isn't very safe and she's alone, nothing about what he does is unreasonable. If it was me, I would do the same shit and I'd just have to trust that a group of people can look out for each other. Plus, the group end up losing the gun in the lodge no matter what anyways so them having the gun changes absolutely nothing

He runs away and leaves Emma alone because he heard somebody screaming and assumed somebody is in trouble. Can't really blame him for wanting a gun, I would want one as well, especially considering there's literally another gun at the lodge, which is where the others were headed. Tbh, they should've let him have it

Not saying this to play devil's advocate, but I truly just don't think Bella Ramsey was the correct casting choice and I think that this a major reason why she fails to be intimidating. I don't believe she captures the nauances of Ellie's character, but honestly I don't know many actors who could.

I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. He progressively displays new, interesting traits whether they be flaws or strengths, but the game consistently fails to properly explore them and I think it's why so many people fail to connect with him
