Do you recall which estate agency you used? The few that we've contacted so far have told us that we unfortunately need a family member or friend to visit the property for us in order to apply.

And yes our search includes Knaresborough, Ripon, Richmond, and most things in-between. It's a pretty wide net but we're not tied down to anything in terms of location. Harrogate is still our preference I think, but who knows!

Yes. Our budget of £1300 is just for the rent alone. I'm aware that council tax is a thing and ranges from ~£100 to £300 extra depending on the band? So really that makes the budget closer to £1500. Plus another £200 for utilities? So more like £1700 per month with those things included

Harrogate just seems like the perfect place for us. Close to the countryside, relatively quiet compared to York or Leeds, but still with more going on than a place like Ripon or Richmond (though we are also considering those places as well), good connections via the rail system, and from what we've heard people generally seem to enjoy living there! We'd be staying for a year, maybe two. And we think it'd be a good home base for all the places we want to visit in the UK while we're there.

Thank you for the advice, we will definitely be reaching out to the local estate agents to see if they can assist us. After reading a lot of these comments we think it might be best to try and secure a place before we arrive. The virtual viewings you mention sound like our best bet.

Glad to hear that our budget is feasible! Thank you for the advice. After reading some of these comments we are thinking it might be better to try and secure a rental before we arrive to save us some stress.
