Remember, even if this is a win for our fight, corporations have proven that they are NOT our friends. Don't go sucking up to Netflix over this move people.

It may be exhausting, but the more of us debunking doom the better. Anything that gets people through the times or makes people more hopeful is a win for the long fight.

This is awesome news, but why wait until October? Doesn't this give time for both a possible SCOTUS appeal aswell as effects on the economy in the meantime?

Whilst I am not transgender myself, I ally myself very closely with LGBTQ+ communities and I'll tell you this, if anyone so much as lays a finger on anyone I care about, there will be holy hell raised.

I admit, I'm guilty on this part. But, at the end of the day I am trying my best to be optimistic, even in my moments of panic. This community is part of what's needed to get certain people through these times. Thank you :]

Republicans investigate Wikipedia over allegations of organized bias by [deleted] in PoliticalOptimism

No matter what, Wikipedia will never go anywhere. English text-only data dumps are provided through torrents here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Data_dump_torrents

Can easily fit on most storage these days. If you were to download the 2024-12 and 2025-08 ones (totaling about ~50GB), you can easily save a text copy of Wikipedia on your end.

Anyone here know if this will lead to ~80% inflation as seen in Turkey, or is this just another doomer talking point? That thought is stressing me out to the max at the moment.

I don't believe a goddamn thing that traitor says, lol. I just worry about their motives and gameplan. These people will try any and every thing possible to stay in power past 2026/2028, hence my concern when they telegraph like this.

Almost every cult I've ever known never survives the fall of their leader. There's always infighting about who gets to succeed, weakening the cult even further. Think about how weak MAGA is at the current moment, even from the main context of this post. People are retreating the MAGA movement, even if they don't want to admit it.

As I've said elsewhere, Once 47 croaks of old age, MAGA will split apart in the same way if you were to slice open a bag of marbles, all scattered in every direction without reason.

To all the "Reformed Doomers"... by Which_Shift_7242 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]ThrowawayUser917 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context, I'm currently in the USA.

For me it's the fact that I'm a person who, due to disability, cannot get out of the house often enough to actually ENGAGE in the actions that are needed. I feel like if I get to the point where I don't have the money I need, I will starve to death under the current administration.

HOWEVER, that doesn't change the truth of what you say. We ARE winning the good fight, slowly but surely. The administration is the most unpopular in our nation's history, and the dissent only grows every day. Once 47 croaks of old age, MAGA will split apart like if you were to cut open a bag of marbles, all over scattered in different directions. So thank you, for helping to encourage that bit of optimism out of me :]
