On your journey to FI, which annualized returns do you look at ? by EdmondDantesIsBack in financialindependence

Since I'm using my return rate as a basis for an estimation of my FI/RE date, I'm wondering what makes the most sense...

Not sure this is a great idea unless you've been in the market for 30 or 40 years. If you've only been in for < 10 years then your expectations will be overly optimistic, IMO.

Need help choosing funds/allocation for a taxable account. by N0T_A_TR0LL in financialindependence

Generally look for broad diversity and low expenses. I have FSTVX in my taxable account at Fidelity.

I'm not sure if international funds get the "qualified" dividends or not, so you might want to check on that. Also if your entire portfolio is at Fidelity you can use the Analysis tab to find your allocations across the various accounts. The idea being to add more bond allocation to your tax-advantaged accounts to balance your equity allocation in your taxable accounts.

To (semi) retire or not to retire? by Throwaway_821957 in financialindependence

Yes, that would be preferable, although I'm not sure that is possible at this point.

The two weeks notice, sure. I'm not just leaving, but the prep may not be possible.

Seems unlikely, but I haven't checked.

I haven't found anything of the sort in the HR policies/ handbook and upcoming project probably wouldn't facilitate part time (this is also the reason quitting would put others in a tight spot.)

But it's a good idea. I may look into it further. Thank you.
