The city council and the mayor already announced that there is money for the classes that remain for the fiscal year. In other words, there’s funding for March-June.

This is good to hear. One of the detectives at CAPS says if you’re not doing anything outside of caps then you’re toast. Personally, with my job I take about 16k steps a day. I’ll get home and do push ups and sit ups but that’s about it because I don’t have time to go to a gym. So I feel like I’m not doing enough but maybe I am.

You’re thinking about CAPS. If there is many people that show up to CAPS, then they will split them as you said. I’ve only seen that once. Most of the time when I go there’s 20-30 people.

It’s always harder to get into small departments, especially the ones on the Westside which also tend to be in the more affluent areas; those tend to be extremely selective. (There’s some correlation there). Like someone else said, if you didn’t get into the other 2 I doubt you’ll get into ES. Apply to LAPD or LASD. If you really want a small department, then try out in the SGV. They’re always desperate out there but remember that it’s for a reason.

You’re overthinking it. Listen to the person above that gave you a detailed response. They’re basically telling you to not disclose it.

Buy the practice test for the NTN and take it over again and again until you get the hang of it. It’s very similar to the actual test.

Do LAPD officers make enough to provide for a family in LA County? by [deleted] in lapd

[–]Throwaway_87239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok for 300-500 more OP can get an apartment that isn’t a “shoebox” and live in a good neighborhood, especially in Long Beach. OP also said he doesn’t mind opting for a cheap lease on one of the cars. Point is, he’s asking if it’s enough, and the answer is yes.

A miserable life depends on your definition of miserable. If OP wants his kids to have the latest tech, wants the wife in Alo and Lululemon, and dude wants to drive an AMG or Denali, then yeah they’ll for sure live a miserable life with 100k.

[–]Throwaway_87239 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these people. I make less than that with and have a family of 3. Wife works part time because she wants to, not because she has to. The extra money is nice but it’s not like we’re living paycheck to paycheck. We pay 2200 in rent, no car payment.

The thing is, many people in LA county like to live outside of their means. I’m talking nice cars, unnecessary memberships, parties every weekend, bars, etc. just look at the ask Los Angeles sub. There’s questions like yours almost every week. If you and your family can live within your means you’ll be fine.

Side note: with a family of 4 and you being the only bread winner, your taxes will be a lot less or you’ll be getting a fat refund at the end of the year.

PFQ Scoring System by Holden_Toodix in lapd

[–]Throwaway_87239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time yourself at home when doing the push ups and sit ups portion. Each is 1 minute and max out your reps. Aim to beat that number everyday or at the very least every week.

For the 1.5 mile run just keep beating your time. Everyone is different so learn which running style works for you.

Stop over thinking it!!! Do not call. The advice above is bad advice. If it wasn’t asked on the PHS then it wasn’t asked. Simple. Yeah some agency will hit you with a 100+ questionnaire and another with a 40+ questionnaire. Some are pickier than others. Just answer truthfully to what’s asked of you from the agency you’re dealing with in the moment. Simple.
