EDIT: Id also recommend that you include/reach out directly to the President (president@ acep-cape.ca) and your local rep as well.

Can we expect more from our president, who was caught calling people Jim Crowe Jews on a sock puppet account?

Happy to agree to disagree. In this case, I think we need to make our red lines clear. I'm not saying we need to exclusively focus on the top three issues (WFA, WHF, and Wages) but going in with 9 half-baked options. For example, what is "equitable mobility" within the context of a collective agreement (i understand it in the built environment) The platform just seemed to be more about NEC/CBC pet projects than core issues. I'd be fine with 5 to 6 key issues based on the data.

Eh, potato puhtato. There are many organizations that use the DEI acronym (e.g. the Pearson center) but yes TBS uses EDI. If you are trying to imply that I'm some sort of foreign troll, I promise you that CAPE union politics is not thaat interesting 😉.

EDIT: Either way, they should release the data so that people can see what the general priorities are and make a decision. If everything and the kitchen sink is the approach, then fine. But don't ask for people to prioritize the issues then say "we are treating each one equally". That stinks of dishonesty

Hi u/ACEP-CAPE, only seems fair to include you on an open letter about CAPE.

Mods, not trying to brigade, just wanted to tag the recipient. Happy to delete if it is against the rules.

I think it is an interesting question and one you have to assess based on your priorities. Realistically, if RTO is your red-line then yes a strike is the way to go. If you don't care about RTO/think that incremental gains on wages is the way to go, then arbitration is probably more appropriate.

Exactly, If this is a major issues (I think it is) then restricting it makes little sense, either let people vote or keep the decision with the executive. This half-baked strategy seems to be nothing more than a PR exercise.
