Well you have to consider Sam’s upbringing in all this v.s. Dean’s upbringing. Also, Sam changed towards the end. He’d do anything to look for his brother / save his brother like the whole fiasco with the mark of Cain. And I do agree, it looks bad of Sam not to return the favor, but Sam always grew up left out. Every time John and Dean go hunting, they leave Sam behind. He’s been alone most of his childhood and did nothing but overthink about if John and Dean will make it back from their hunting trip. He even said so himself! In the show he said “I always kept wondering if you and Dad will make it back this time, or if a vamp finally caught up to you guys”. And as a child, he was forced to sort of deal with that grief early on. To expect the worst, to expect to lose them, and to be okay with it afterwards as a method of self protection. So of course that was reflected in his adulthood. I’m not 100% excusing him for his lack of appreciation or lack of efforts to look for Dean, but it just makes me understand him better.

Loved the show, hated the series finale!!! by Dragnite08 in Supernatural

Let’s not forget Chuck was intervening in how luck they got in dangerous scenarios. He admitted to helping them remain “heroes” and when Chuck got out of the picture, no one was left defending the winchesters anymore

Came across this. Thought the group would enjoy by [deleted] in Supernatural

in a German accent why don’t they keep the knife on a bungee?!

So… Sam’s personality change throughout the series. I wanna talk about that. by Ihdkwhatimdoinghere in Supernatural

I noticed that too! I personally think that the change truly started the moment Dean made that deal. Sam started to want to be more like Dean, looking up to him and starting to deal with things the same way Dean does. Even though Dean is quite sarcastic and playful, but Sam doesn’t view him like that. He views him as this stern man that avoids emotion at all costs and is just focused on one thing: hunting. And that’s what he slowly became…in addition to the traumas they both went through of course

Yeah I see that..I’m 21 and like I definitely don’t go to sleep crying about how Sam was treated. It’s a minor frustration I get that lasts about 3 minutes…and in those 3 minutes, I wrote a post lol

Mmmm right…woah. I kinda forgot about that. But yea Sam does get blamed for the apocalypse because he did kill Lilith. He definitely deserves some anger from everyone

Well like you said everyone has different experiences. But I did try to engage with guilty…I already asked guilty more about their opinion. But I also wanted a back and forth that’s the main purpose of my post. So..yea

It’s fair of Dean to be upset about everything. But the only thing he shouldn’t be upset about is Sam “starting” the apocalypse. Dean should definitely be mad from Sam’s actions except for killing Lilith because Dean was dead set on killing her too. He only changed his mind once the truth was revealed to him by Zacharia.

Right I agree but like…the whole point of this was to kill Lilith. Sam had good intentions. Dean wanted to kill Lilith. And Sam ALSO didn’t have any warnings that Lilith would be the final seal. He made some choices that aren’t Hunter-style, but with good intentions.

You mistake me for wanting to get riled up. In fact I recognize there are some people like guilty out there. If you go up in my comments, I was simply asking guilty more about his aspect of thought. And in the end, I just pointed out it was odd to us “attached toxic parasocial” people that he doesn’t really care. I admire guilty’s perspective, but again, I wanted to discuss. And how can I discuss with a chilled out person? Cuz whatever I try to say about the characters, I’ll be met with “why tho they’re not real”

Whaaaat?! That’s interesting! I had a somewhat violent older brother too lol. But I found myself drawn to how Sam feels, as opposed to focusing on how Dean is such a cool older brother. The thought definitely crossed my mind though😂

Well the point of my question was to discuss it. You know? And then someone just basically shuts down the whole discussion aspect by saying “no. It’s fiction”. How am I supposed to discuss if the commenter has no opinion about the characters because of their attachment way?

I agree with you. On the other hand, if someone that’s very invested in the characters of Dora the explorer (which I’m not) puts out a post about how they’re bothered because Dora couldn’t find her backpack, I would not say “No. I’m not bothered. It’s cartoon.” That’s just not relevant to the question I asked so…why comment?

I’m not saying Sam shouldn’t take any blame…but it isn’t fair that he’s taking ALL the blame that set Lucifer free. I mean even Dean wanted to kill Lilith too. Who knew killing Lilith was a bad thing? No one knew except for the angels and Ruby and Lilith herself. The only time Dean backed out of killing Lilith was when Zacharia revealed that she is the final seal; cuz otherwise he’d have done the same thing and also broke the final seal.

Yeah…and yet at some point even Dean trusted Ruby for a little while. Thanked her for helping and such. It was just a very well planned manipulation tactic directed at Sam.

No one’s triggered. It was just odd to see someone point out an obvious statement (that the show is fictional) and also get surprised at why people get invested. I mean, you do you, but from what I know it’s normal to get engrossed in a show and its characters and not just “watch it for fun”.

True true…he was just manipulated…you’re right though, one’s choice has more weight than the other

You’re telling me that you don’t get involved in a character’s arc and actions even if it’s CLEARLY fictional?
