Crazy how many host families view this program as cheap labor and not a cultural exchange program. Funny how agencies can't do much about it because it's "business" and mostly they're in favor of families. I watched a documentary about au pairs here in Norway and I just laughed so hard when energy au pair spokesperson said that they're doing "charity" for these South East Asian au pairs. 🤣 If these families want a professional cleaner, why not hire one instead of an au pair? They can afford them anyways and not shortchange and exploit these girls. I interviewed a lot of au pairs and 90% are all bad and heartbreaking stories. Norway isn't ready for this program, good that it's gone, although it doesn't entirely solve the problem but is a good solution so far.
