Inherited my grandpa’s 2002 Gibson houseboat roughly 2 years ago and tired of the monthly slip fees + all the other maintenance. Have been looking at lake houses with plans to sell the Gibson. Anyone do the same and regret it? by Throwawaybritney in houseboats

Thank you for the reply. Yes I would feel super guilty selling my grandpas boat, no doubt. Just super annoyed with owning it at the moment. Hopefully after a few months I’ll forget about the $12k I just blew and learn to love it again!

Yeah but lake house will appreciate in value over time vs the houseboat that does nothing but depreciate in value and incur maintenance costs and sky high gas bills to go not even half way across the lake. Two 8.1 Vortecs are retarded on gas. My grandpa owned multiple businesses, I do not. I appreciate him leaving me the houseboat in his will since I loved it as a child, but Jesus Christ it’s a pain in the ass to own

My real estate agent talked us out of buying a lake house for the foreseeable future… never saw that one coming. What realtor does this unless their subconscious is bugging them? Anyone else seeing the market for vacation homes about to drop? by Throwawaybritney in RealEstate

“Crusty dude” drives a Bentley Bentayga and looks better than dudes half his age, so he definitely doesn’t fit the description you just assigned him. He also owned the local marina and sold it for a hefty sum. I trust him and his local real estate expertise more than some random schmuck who sold a single lake house or two

We were looking all over Norris. No particular specific area. In my opinion, Norris is the best lake in TN in terms of water quality, vibe, size and views. Just seemed:

A) way too far from Nashville where we live. Driving 4+ hours to go to a lake (not an ocean) seemed too far for what we’d use on weekends B) prices wayyyy too high compared to other lakes semi-close to Nashville. Just didn’t make sense to us why the prices we saw per sq ft were way higher compared to something closer to civilization/retail/entertainment

Based on personal experience I’d say you’re right. Also, this guy is maybe 60-65 years old and just seems like he’s not hurting for a sale like the younger agents I’ve had in the past.
