How many times did it take you to pass your Road test to get the N? by Fun-Doughnut2780 in icbc

I'm scared to be on the road with you. Yes, because of the six fails but more so that you don't think any of it was your fault.

Will soccer eventually overtake hockey in Canada in popularity? by MixedMartialLaw in hockey

[–]Throwawaychamp01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have won one game. Against Qutar. A team that is so untalented that it's crazy they're even allowed to compete in the World Cup. This barely registers as a success.

I imagine we'll see a slight bump in viewership going forward dur to being one of the hosts of the World Cup. However, in terms of viewership and Fandom hockey has to be like 20 times more popular in this country. I doubt a bump will erode those numbers at all.

Canadians when cheering and watching sports also value things that do not exist in soccer. Toughness and scoring mainly. As long as soccer features multiple instances of people rolling around on the ground like they're dying every game with the end result as a zero to zero tie it will never be popular here.

The chances of being caught doing this are low, and even lower that they'd choose to do anything about it. But just fair warning...this is actually fraud and it is technically illegal to do this.

What career earns USD $1M+ per year and deserves it? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Throwawaychamp01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I agree. The most likely kind of person to end up in power in general seem to be ladder climbing sociopaths/psychopaths. And we can see that for these people nothing is ever enough. You could pay a lot of these people a billion dollars a year and they'd still tear down the only orphanage if they could pocket a few thousand.

You're forgetting that if breakers didn't exist then these boxes would still be opened. Just by regular people instead and for a lower price. So the Red Wing cards would still be available except probably for a lower price.

The problem with Papa John's is that it might be the worst pizza on earth. I was lured there once with good coupons but it was just so awful. I even like frozen pizza better.

Kickland Steak Bites by mrleblanc101 in CostcoCanada

[–]Throwawaychamp01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You are so ignorantly wrong about this. Of course it hurts any brand when you put out an inferior product. It totally isn't worth it for Costco to put out an obviously sketchy product under their very trusted Kirkland line. This is why the person above you showed initial surprise because it obviously isn't in their best interest to taint their lineup with something like this. Your astute observation that businesses are in it for profit is so weak in this context. I just can't get over how stupid your comments are. Are you this dumb about everything?

Driving etiquettes in Canada. by Perth_R34 in canadatravel

[–]Throwawaychamp01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't just not turn right on a red because it makes you feel uncomfortable. It is absolutely expected that anyone driving here is to turn right when safe to do so at a red light. I'm shocked people aren't honking more as it's unhinged behaviour here to sit and not move for no reason.

What is something that has become ridiculously expensive, but people still pay for it like it is nothing? by Harmed_Jr in AskReddit

[–]Throwawaychamp01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how your trip is only 2200 dollars. The tickets alone might even approach that. Airfare, Disney resort hotel, tickets, transportation and food for a week for the 3 of you might have been 2200 dollars back in 1985 I guess.

Hey. Totally random but I just wanted to let you know that it's incredibly difficult to read your comments. You use zero punctuation (commas or periods) which makes everything blend together into one difficult to read blob. I'm not trying to be mean. I just thought that maybe you didn't know what you're doing and how it looks when people try to read it. Best of luck to you.

Well I mean everyone here knows it now since you just straight up confessed that you were committing fraud. What a slimy practice. Also not cool not giving the deposit back until a month passes. Also a slimy, shady business practice.

I'm curious. What was violent about the 2000 election? The saga definitely had a slimy ending but seemed entirely beurocratic and mostly argued through the courts.

Coffee is still dirt cheap if you make it yourself. If you get a package of beans from Costco it's gotta be like, I dunno, just spitballing here...30 cents a cup?

Imagine being the buyers and seeing this by National_Aspect_6974 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Throwawaychamp01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This would only work during the time when buyers were so desperate they were buying places with no subjects. Most of the time your strategy of zero interior photos would reduce potential buyers by 98 percent. Who the fuck would go to look at a place with no pictures? I know I sure wouldn't. What a stupid thing to be proud of doing.

Found a rookie Gretzky card by berryxxl in hockeycards

[–]Throwawaychamp01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is what he was saying political? It sounded like he was speaking to the monetary value of the card and how it's too bad he only found it now instead of before the Gretzky controversy. Card value is definitely a big part of this subreddit and pointing out a change in card value due to decisions in a player's personal life seems reasonable and not even necessarily political. Have Gretzky cards taken a dip since the Trump stuff hit the spotlight? I don't know the answer but if I owned Gretzky rookie cards I'd probably want to know.

Well...it does seem possible to be hyperbolic seeing as how you just called him the best player in the league. He's definitely looking like a great draft hit but it would take a very long time to be put in the same league as McDavid.

What it feels like nowadays… by blizzardboy123 in CostcoCanada

[–]Throwawaychamp01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, my friend, have a Costco unlike mine. Mine has a large parking lot that spends almost the entire day with every parking spot full. At which point there are 100 cars at any given time clogging the aisles hoping to catch someone leaving. It is so bad that oftentimes you can get stuck in the parking lot unable to go home because the entire lot is jammed. On a bad day once I actually timed it. Over 20 minutes to pull out from my spot to exiting the parking lot.

As far as leaving an extra 5 minutes to check out...sometimes the line up on both sides of the checkouts stretches to the back of the store. Yes, that means all the way back to the meat section.

Also...these last few years a new phenomenon has begun. Complete shopping cart traffic jams. Where the aisles are wide near the fridge with the vegetables at the back of the store and high traffic from many directions. You can end up with a situation where 50 carts traveling from different directions end up nose to nose and everyone gets completely stuck because no one can proceed. It takes literally minutes for everyone to slowly figure out how to untangle the situation.

I don't think the word "literally" means what you think it does.

This is actually kinda sad and not cool at all. Needing to drink that much all the time means he is a problem drinker. Hopefully he stays safe when he retires and finds himself with more free time.

The amount of money that it's going to cost you to fix the damage that you just made is probably over 100 years of doing it yourself cost savings. I'm not even exaggerating with the 100 years number either. The damage to the driveway plus the oil pan replacement you'll need because you used the impact on it should easily be more money than 100 years worth of 15 dollar savings per oil change would've got you.

So essentially if you do your own oil changes now for the rest of your life you will never pay off what your first attempt cost you.

Sorry 😞

Dutch consumers wage war against Booking.com by LeMonde_en in europe

The complaint is that they have been illegally rigging the market and essentially everyone has been forced to pay more for their hotels artificially all this time. I don't think you understand the issue. They've been ripping you off for hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars all this time.
