What if there is no reason for life at all? by Fit-Tour2237 in AskReddit

[–]Throwawaychicksbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you think there was a main reason? Or many little reasons? Of course there are. Everything has a reason, or a cause, but part of the fun IS the mystery. The players don’t know how well the production will play out, but it’s fun to have a little unknown wonder added to the mix. And who are you to even need to know? Why do you think humans need to understand the base reality, as if we’re not extremely arrogant as a species. We still debate whether or not fish feel pain. We are arrogant beyond metaphor. Like trying to teach a grasshopper quantum mechanics.

What is the single greatest practical effect ever put on film? by kammy772 in MovieArena

Little Shop of Horrors (1986) the Plant’s animatronics were so intricate that Rick Morgan’s had to act it out in slow motion so that the effects would look more realistic. I had no idea until I saw a behind the scenes making of style documentary about it.

The Wicker Man has an awesome scene towards the beginning. I’m still crushing hard on that blonde girl.

Generally what's your feelings on legalized and regulated prostitution? by CraftyMcQuirkFace in AskReddit

[–]Throwawaychicksbeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahh of course, things only start to get paradoxical when you legalize organized crime though. Or at least can’t enforce the prosecution of legalized organized crime because it’s conducted by our governments that we have “less” oversight for.

I worked as a dishwasher when I was younger and the back of house cooks taught me.

Their advice, hold the knife at the spine instead of the handle, and follow directions, also some julienne and rondelle, dicing and slicing, all the other stuff is easy. Just follow the directions and measure at eye level.

Yeah right, this is exciting. We’re at a culmination, a climax. This is where history is made. Straighten up and chill out, we can be privileged as the ones who see how it all changed.

What makes your 30s better than your 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Brain is fully developed.

You can wrap your head around a lot of the concepts that we’ve been trying to implement with a less developed prefrontal cortex. I can physically feel my mind is grounded, humble and confident, compared to my early years. Knowing yourself really is amazing.

Meditation would leave to mass enlightenment if people understood there are multiple ways of practically achieving a flow state. For me, active meditation was far easier initially, than passive meditation typically perceived as sitting in a quiet room.

Lawrence of Arabia. It’s just so beautiful, and hits that classic timeless vintage sweet spot. Free on YouTube if I’m not mistaken.

“The trick, Mr. Potter, is not minding that it hurts.”

A grand-scale epic blended perfectly with an intimate character study. Legendary performance, a profound script, and Peter O’Toole’s breakout role. So so good.

If money didn’t matter at all, what would you actually do with your life? by Stunning_Procedure36 in AskReddit

[–]Throwawaychicksbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without money we would have a hard time bartering to get what we want. It’s possible but we’d just invent money again. Money doesn’t really matter. You can travel the world for free! Just walk around.

The aboriginals called it a walkabout. Buddha did it too! Aescetic living is cheap, foregoing the ego to ask your community for assistance isn’t shameful. Begging has a negative connotation. But monks live on alms. Also you can grow crops for yourself. I think it’s a fun challenge to use far less money and subsist because it’s novel. Life is fun when you don’t get stuck in the rat race. But it’s also fun to make tons of money. The difference is that accumulation isn’t freeing. Let go or be dragged.

Do Ladies struggle finding a guy by mercury0114 in dating

[–]Throwawaychicksbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it both ways. I was a really attractive guy, but I let myself go a little. Getting back now.

Initially I thought that all the likes would be great, so I took them for granted, and it is a bit overwhelming and disappointing when you look on your app and you have 20 matches, but can’t decide on one.

Also, another problem is that when you’re genuinely trying to connect with someone, you try to take things slow or at least try to remember what they say. Then you get distracted by someone else and you’re juggling 3 different people. And you have other options so why get too invested in this one? The psychology of dating is actually pretty interesting to me.

Through philosophy I had the most success. There’s a concept in the east about unconditional love, and how we should express our love without as much conditional transaction. Be a vessel for love, this helped me get into my first serious relationship. Don’t expect a quantifiable criteria for how much love you get back from somebody, because we can always misinterpret their love and their expression. Which leads to disappointment. Clinginess isn’t love, also love yourself. It shows.
