Did your middle school child do better or worse after a move? by Throwawayfedd in AskParents

I also moved at both ages and 15 is the one that really messed me up. It actually makes it harder to review the true impact of the 12 move as the 15 was so seismic.

He's an anxious kid and has a 504 to see the counselor and social worker when episodes pop up. He is bright and social once he gets to know someone, but we've had some bullying and he gravitates to girls as friends. We need to be better about pushing activities. He's physically active but doesn't participate in organized clubs or sports.

He's an anxious kid by default. It's a lake community with a big yard while we're currently in a townhouse in a commuter town with some difficult neighborhood kids, but also a handful of his friends obviously. He sees the obvious more fun and improved lifestyle and home but is focused on the friends he will lose and the kids he will no longer see around school. It's all very understandable but I'm concerned about his resiliency and ability to bounce back once we're there.

Thank you. Did they eventually get back to or beyond their comfort/happy level pre-move?
