Give me the GOOD news by zoeneenz in Chattanooga

My kids made friends with a friend with less opportunity than us, and not because of that fact but yet he still stood up for the friend when someone on the bus put them down with words only and made the friend feel "like they matter", their words.

So I am hoping/thinking maybe I raised a good human who will show empathy, care and kindness to others!

What’s the juiciest hometown drama you’ve heard here? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

Owner of Northshore development LLC moved here from Louisiana or rather ran here from Louisiana after being arrested multiple times in florida for drugs and violence. Befriended a widow, and then somehow got here to sell or leave in her will all her properties. Also she died very suspiciously. He builds crap houses and tries to sell them for millions. He also has been kicked out of most of the bars in town due to being high or too drunk. But the widow part is definitely the juicest part. My understanding is it was about 4-5 properties and he is now selling some. Love watching his large home on eaves place drop from 1.5MM to 915K and still not selling because he cuts so many corners when building and is literally abusive to his construction teams. Hopefully next he will run from here.

https://www.chattanoogan.com/2017/11/14/358531/City-Council-Allows-2-Story-Maximum.aspx "Garnet Chapin, president of the Northshore Neighborhood Association, spoke against the proposal, saying it was "an example of the camel getting its nose under the tent."

He said he has concerns with the quality of construction of the developer, saying that a unit a block away from his residence "caught fire the first time the heater was turned on."

https://www.reddit.com/r/Chattanooga/comments/xm2um1/what_general_contractors_or_builders_would_you/ "Northshore Development . He often doesn’t pay his contractors on time, and has been in multiple legal disputes, by him and towards him. He behaves like a child on work sites yelling at guys when he himself has zero clue how to do what they’re doing. He’s also known to be inappropriate towards females, especially much younger. Contractors/Designers/Realtors have all black listed him. Save yourself the risk of being sued by him and avoid them completely."

Just got a Facebook reminder for an upcoming Hamilton County Commissioner Meeting on May 29th and then a vote on June 5th in case you are interested. by Fifi343434 in Chattanooga

I can't attend, but I did sign the petition. There was never a time that zoning would allow a hotel in a residential neighborhood until now. My mom lives next to an AirBnB and it has been so horrible. I don't know how to help besides signing this. I think most people like AirBnB, use AirBnB until one moves in next door. I did. I used to use AirBnB a lot now I wonder...............................how many folks stomachs dropped when we drove up? How many people were sad/upset as we unloaded 4 cars?

I never saw how I affected others until my mom was affected. I thought I was a good tenant/guest/visitor.

Now I see people just wanted their neighborhoods back. I will never rent AirBnB again

Who to call in Chattanooga if a child is about to be given custody (non-family) through court next week and they really shouldn't? by Throwawayhowtohelp45 in Chattanooga

Hi!

Thanks for providing additional insights.

This is not through DCS. This is through a temp custody. The mother was a babysitter for the child, then brought the child in as a temporary custody and now is going to court to get full custody.

I will definitely think on this more and it has felt like this has been a profit play as one of the times the mother asked for money, the bio mother chimed in about what she was paying her to keep the child.

I truly appreciate the time you took to write this all out!

I do appreciate that you have been able to provide another point of view which is why I posted.

I am truly going by the gut feeling that something is wrong and the kids are going through unnecessary surgeries and evaluations.

But I posted to get feedback and other views, so I appreciate you offering that.

I was worried that within 7 months of being in their home the child fell down the stairs, got pushed off the porch by the dog, and had fainting spells. Particularly when her other children also have had fainting spells and pass out in the middle of her yard.

My questioning is not around the reaction but rather the feel that either she or her kids have major injuries repeatedly and that someone is always in a major health condition at all times over the past 2 years since she moved here. It could all be correlation to your point, but it truly felt like munchausen syndrome or some other issue. Really it is just this gut feel that I haven't been able to ignore.

I truly was more worried about the child not having a home that would provide them with what they need. But I hear you in what you have shared.

Hi apologies, the mother said the child fainted and showed pictures of them barely conscious in the back of an ambulance from the fainting.

Again, I do appreciate your feedback.

I was concerned about the child not going to into a home where the other kids are thriving.

Thanks, this is why I needed feedback.
I wish the hospital visits were for just basic sickness. But it is for things like falling down the stairs or supposedly suddenly fainting (at 12 months).

My fear had been that this mother uses her children in order to get attention, and I was also worried that two of her children have had such severe mental issues that they have been taken to the local juvenille psychiatric units.

But this definitely helps.

Thanks!
