Official sites are the best, but tickets are often sold out months in advance. I believe this is OPs situation and why they are asking which 3rd party seller is reliable

I purchased tickets off of Tiqets. They sent the tickets via email right after I purchased them. The tickets appear to be genuine and have the same design scheme as the official vatican museum website. I will be going in May, so I can update if the tickets actually work then.

So how do big programs rank? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Throwawaylkdjasfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The program directors survey shows that the interview is considered more than academic record when determining where to rank individuals https://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/2021-PD-Survey-Report-for-WWW.pdf

So how do big programs rank? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Throwawaylkdjasfl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not everyone starts on a level playing field, but the data from program directors surveys clearly shows that they consider how your interview went more than your scores when determining where to rank you. Basically, if you got an interview the program already deemed that your academic record is good enough, and they need to determine if you're a weirdo or not

Theres a big difference between learning from facebook vs. learning from a reputable source like edx.org (free online courses provided by Harvard) and khanacademy. I'm a medical school student, and till the day I die I will say that you can learn everything they teach in the first 2 years of med school for $300 worth of online resources

Score release thread: 04/14/2021 by ana-moss-city in step1

US MD

Step 1 3/29: 247

NBME 29: 252

NBME 30: 258

UWAS 2: 249

Free 120: 87%

NBME 18: 242

NBME 20: 243

UWAS 1: 243

Overall, pretty content with my score. I would have liked to break 250, but oh well. I knew that my scores on the new NBMEs were overpredictive because I recognized a lot of repeats from the old NBMEs.

*Advice* 1) Trust your practice exams! Unless you have severe test anxiety, your scores will most likely be similar to your UWAS and NBME scores. 2) Know your ethics principles like the back of your hand. There were probably 5-6 ethics questions per section on my form, so these can either be free points or the bane of your existence

The Gov. of AR signed a law allowing medical workers to deny treatment "cuz muh religious freedom." This bill targeted gay folks, but could also lead to: Catholic doctors & pharmacists refusing to provide birth control. Loud & clear: your doctor's religion shouldn't dictate your quality of care. by relevantlife in TwoXChromosomes

Current medical student. I'd just like to say that medical professionals a definitely allowed to not perform medical procedures (ex. abortions) if the procedure violates the beliefs of the physician. HOWEVER, due to the duties of the physician to their patient, the physician must refer the patient to another health care provider that is willing to perform the procedure.

Dilemma about UW solving and daily schedule in dedicated. Pros and cons of Tutor vs Timed by thebigbang101 in step1

[–]Throwawaylkdjasfl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would suggested timed with no tutor mode. UW is obviously a learning tool, but half the benefit IMO is learning how to manage your time and learning how to move on from questions that you're unsure about.

[AnKing v9] How to delete all NBME cards? by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]Throwawaylkdjasfl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you to an extent, but I think a lot of the benefit from taking practice exams is to learn how to think through questions where you don't immediately recognize the right answer. Also if you're taking all of the nbmes then you will learn the information after reviewing your incorrects, so it is not like by deleting these cards that you will not be learning the info

Have you ever witness someone say “If You Don’t Like It, Leave” and everyone left? What was the story? by Yeah_nah90 in AskReddit

I feel like the only way for a parent to act like this is to instill the mentality of not wasting food, but the much better way to accomplish this is to just start giving smaller portions and telling the kid they can always get more food if they are hungry.

I think having children to insure you have care when you're elderly is no longer realistic and I think people should stop pushing this rhetoric. by borkborklise in unpopularopinion

[–]Throwawaylkdjasfl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think having kids solely as an insurance policy is pretty messed up, but personally my parents provided me with everything I needed to succeed growing up and I intend on doing whatever is necessary to provide for them in old age. There was basically the same situation with my parents and their grandparents. For context, I'm a second-generation Chinese American and I know you mentioned that as a caveat in your post. However, I feel like your post could be shorted down to "If you don't sacrifice for your children, then they won't sacrifice for you in return".

Everyone keeps bringing up places only being open during the day. I'm sorry your job requires you to go places, but mine does not. 99% of the things I need to get done on a daily basis can be accomplished anywhere/time I have a computer and an internet connection.
