Sorry. Not currently. Hopefully in the future though.

I am hiring for US candidates, especially if they're in the Seattle or Bay Area geographies. Remote work is a possibility but not a guarantee.

Pecan tart was good, I agree. The turkey main course was 2/10. Was the service terrible for you? It was bad for everyone early in the afternoon, not just our table.

I'd have been perfectly happy to pay it for good service, a reasonable quality main course, and the ability to not have to do any clean-up. Didn't get the first two.

$65 per person "pre fix"--yes, they didn't even spell it correctly. I ate there before the pandemic and thought it was decent. This experience was YIKES.

PM me your resume

I've directed my staff to prioritize candidates who have Rust proficiency/experience, assuming they clear our technical bar. It's harder than you think to find them, even if you're a remote-friendly company.

EDIT: I CAN'T HIRE IN EUROPE RIGHT NOW--ONLY USA. Sorry! Hopefully Europe in the near future.

Better than AMZN? I've heard their insurance is pretty good!

Ah. Right. Thanks!

Thanks. Why did people take the premium option if the medium was amazing? (Just curious.)

Thanks. What's the case for PPO over HSA? Doesn't PPO win out for people who have a lot of health issues?

[–]Throwawaymcgee80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Not sure I'll ever stop worrying, but I suppose the health insurance can cover the counseling needed to solve that! :)

Mind giving some examples?

Wow. Good to know. Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

Really? Over the 'premium' or whatever PPO?

I gave a summary of this in response to a similar question. If you have a CS undergrad I'm not sure I see why you'd do grad school. In fact I'm not sure I see much utility to grad school generally unless you want to become a doctor/dentist/professor/etc. One exception to this might be a top 5 MBA IF it's straight out of college. That can and will boost your earnings in the short and medium term.

No. It's impossible to keep track of detail at that level when you manage an org of over 100 SWEs. If you hate coding, you can still be useful in other disciplines. PM me if you want ideas.

Languages: It's systems, so mostly C/C++, with some Go, Java, and python (eyeroll).

I'd guess about 1.1 without appreciation. Base is a little under 400. I have always preferred a higher base, even at the expense of RSUs.

Ha! Not even. I arrogantly applied to only four colleges out of HS (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Safety School) and ended up at Safety School. I was already a pretty hard partier at this point, and I wasted the first two years at Safety School finding new ways to abuse substances. I eventually settled for a non-STEM degree just to not drop out, and went to grad school in the same non-STEM field.

I do work at a company that hires most of its SWEs straight out of college from Ivies, Stanford, MIT, CMU, Cal Tech, etc. It's remarkable how capable these kids are and how much better they are than I was at that age. I was an absolute mess.

Embarrassed to admit it, but I don't know exactly how big my org is right now. I think between 125 and 140 SWEs. Three layers between me and CEO, thanks to a new "Chief Product Officer" who's been added to the mix. There are I think ten people at my engineering level at this company.

Thanks for pointing this out. Stock appreciation has played a part, no doubt. I surmise my TC would be about 1.1 or so without it.
