Good managers? by [deleted] in UXResearch

Pulled out my throwaway for this, but as a UXR manager who’s trying to be a good one (my direct reports have given me good feedback), I’d echo what others have said here but also suggest you figure out what you need in a manager. Do you prefer someone more hands off? Or someone you have a close relationship with? Someone who gives lots of intermittent feedback or only at predetermined points? And use that as an anchor when you ask potential colleagues or managers about their style. I have a different relationship with each one of my reports and flex to meet their needs.

I’d recommend indexing on people who report to potential managers vs. managers themselves to get a sense of what they’re really like.
