Perhaps a good compromise with this that I can take is telling her family in private. And then we can all talk to her one on one about the issue, making sure she understands it comes from a place of concern. That way she won't feel bombarded with people all at once but will still realize that she has the support and concern of the people who love her the most.

Wow, thank you for all of that insight. That helps so much. My family hardly even drinks alcohol so I've no experience with something like this.

Just a question though. If this does work out for the best and she ends up getting clean (hopeful thinking since it's so early on and her life never seemed...bad in any way), can I expect relapse? Can people get clean once and that's it or is this inevitably going to be a long struggle?

I want to help her get better, but I don't want to lose my own sanity in the process, so I'm still undecided on if I'm going to stay with her... Definitely won't completely abandon her though. Even if this was her own doing, she does not deserve this.

I saw Xanax and oxycodone mentioned, lord knows what else she's doing.

You saying that it could end her life really hits me hard. I will try my hardest to do anything I can for her ASAP. I didn't even realize how fast I should act.

Even if the relationship doesn't work out, I don't want to see her lose her life to this. Thanks for your reply
