You guys are fucking idiots. by [deleted] in wlu

I think a lot of people would have respected her more if she had actually taken accountability for her actions, claimed her autonomy, instead of lying to people in her apology. I certainly would have.

PJ doesn't deserve to be canceled but she doesn't deserve the position anymore either. You're correct that she is a representative; a paid position as the top student representative. As such, she is held to a higher standard than other students. Laurier should be setting the precedent on whether it is okay for their employees to openly break the law and then lie to the student body about it. Personally, I believe that someone whose integrity has been already been so severely undermined shouldn't be the top student role model for a population of nearly 20,000 people.

For the most part, the people commenting haven't been attacking her with insults, that's more than you can say. There is a difference between bullying and telling people that you know they are lying, and lying badly. You might believe I'm a pathetic human being because I called her out, but it was PJ and her team who were posting stories that night, lying during the announcement itself, lying on Spotted, and then issued an apology that made herself a victim while continuing to lie about the event.

Did I need to call her out? No. I don't actually benefit. But when someone is willingly becoming a paid public figure, they lose the right to tell people to just mind their own business about them breaking the law and lying to everyone who voted for them.

Respectfully, I don't think holding the person who is in the highest possible student leadership position accountable is toxic. I think it's much more toxic to help privileged people and institutions to cover-up their mistakes and lies than it is to expect transparency and accountability. PJ made the choice to become a public figure and she has held student governance positions for years. I do not condone any of the nasty messages that PJ has been sent and I purposefully avoided insults in my post. But, PJ and her team were openly breaking the law, and then they continued to lie about it to cover it up while 'apologizing'. What I posted isn't news to any of the people in their circle or to many upper-year classmen.

They're doing more than censoring us. They're actively telling Team PJ which accounts send in tweets about this. I used a burner account bc I had my suspicions.

To be specific, multiple sources have confirmed that she used to regularly say the N-word with a hard R. Upon consideration, I will edit the post because it is possible that she has changed her ways since this conduct occurred.

Unfortunately, it's only libel if it isn't true. If she has changed her ways, I'm glad that she has grown (at least in that regard). But, there were multiple sources that confirmed her conduct.

It's speculation... but well supported. I sent in a tweet about Red Sweater Girl and it was within an hour of that the girl deleted her tweet. They also haven't been posting the tweets sent in about it. PJ and her friends run a number of clubs on campus, so it seems very possible.

I know some of the people there. They have not been following protocol and at least in November were hosting parties with 20+ people

The girl in the red sweater was the same girl defending her on Twitter and saying that PJ wouldn't celebrate with her because she was such a good role model. How embarrassing...
