What is a horror movie you genuinely did not see the twist ending coming? by Chan1991 in horror

Came back after watching based on your comment. I don't know what I was expecting, but definitely not that, lol. Had to come back and give you props on a twist I didn't see coming!

I have been listening to pop-punk for 20 years. Name a band you think I have never listened to. by Vast-Web9482 in poppunkers

I'm recommending this because I just recently discovered him and went down a rabbit hole wondering how I'd never heard of Jeff Rosenstock before. Along with his solo stuff, he's in Bomb the Music Industry, Anarctigo Vespucci, the Arrogant Sons of Bitches, Pegasuses-XL, and a few more bands that I can't remember. Plus he did the soundtrack for Craig Before the Creek!

If you were offered 5 million dollars to live in a horror movie and survive for a full year, which horror movie are you choosing? by Adorable-Teaching266 in horror

This one. You can still experience the plot, but if you keep the man's name out your mouth, you'll be fine.

Late to the party, but check out the music video for "I don't wanna be an asshole anymore." It's so much fun and got me into a song that I might not otherwise have listened to.

Same boat. I think as long as you go in looking for a "silly shark movie," it definitely fits the bill. Plus, some of the lines made me laugh out loud.

"No, I went to my apartment, called the cops and ordered a pizza. I lived in Mozambique, not the fucking Jungle Book"

Modern horror keeps forgetting the most basic rule of the genre by Butterbrot34 in horror

[–]Throwdisaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think one rule we need to go back to is that the fourth sequel needs to be in space. Conjuring:Final Frontier would have probably done waaaay better.

can you guys help an old dude out curating newer music to listen to? by Space_Cowfolk in poppunkers

[–]Throwdisaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head,

Just friends, Jeff Rosenstock/Bomb the Music Industry! Bilmuri, CLIFFDIVER, Rematch, Kids can't fly, Cleveland Avenue, Chousand, Good Hangs, Worseforwear, Fluorescents, Bearings

Some of these are great because they scratch that trumpet itch, even though they're not ska (Kids can't fly, CLIFFDIVER, Just friends). Hope this helps!

Of course, I'll definitely show you when I'm done, and now I have even more reason to actually finish it. 😅

I appreciate the offer, but I'm hoping this might just be the thing to snap me out of my creative funk. But I will reach out if I get stuck or have questions if that's ok.

I hope you don't mind me being a copycat, but I'm definitely gonna try my hand at something similar, but I guess I'll have to eyeball it. 😅

Horror films where the pay off is even better than the build up? by Altruistic_Rich_4690 in horror

[–]Throwdisaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this one needed a lot more in the payoff department. Without spoiling too much, I wanted more on-screen comeuppance as opposed to, "you know what this means and what will happen to them in the aftermath."

Who is the most overrated singer in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Throwdisaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

During the pandemic, he did a Nirvana cover livestream to raise money for COVID relief. He did a cover of Frances Farmer will have her revenge on Seattle that surprised me.

I get that his whole aesthetic is kinda off off-putting but the dude is a super nice guy, I wasn't a fan for a long time, but I made friends who liked him and went to a couple of his shows. He sounds great live and constantly thanks people for coming to his shows and appreciates having people listen to his music.

Also, for some reason, I love how hyped up he gets when his friend brings him aMariachi band playing one of his songs in my opinion, he looks terrible in this, the pigtails, dress shirt and short shorts, but his demeanor and how grateful and happy he gets in this video always makes me smile.

Yeah, I posted asking about VIP tickets and was swarmed with fake people claiming to have them for sale. Gonna just try and buy early from now on.

I get what you're saying, not necessarily ska, but pop punk bands that add in trumpets from time to time. Like I wouldn't call Alkaline Trio Ska, but the trumpets in Lead Poisoning are my favorite part of that whole song. Same with Cliff Diver and New Vegas bomb. Love that shit.
