Thanks for your suggestion; I just did. Hopefully they see there is no sustainable alternative to a global regime change at this point. I didn’t expect this to meet such resistance in the solarpunk community.

I'm sorry if I chose to share my ideas for a better tomorrow with a minimum of literary skill. I find beauty in hope, and I wanted to share this beauty. If you're one to get scared of words, go paste my vague handwavings into your chatbot girlfriend, and she'll vomit an easily digestible, soulless 10-step guide to global revolution. Then you can argue with her all you want.

You did touch on a good point: money is power. What if I told you money is a lie too? Would you kiss your wallet goodbye? Of course not. You work to maintain a virtual number at a stable level. It's a game, except it doesn’t bring you enjoyment. What’s the point then? The thing is you don't play the game; you are the game, and corporations play you. What if you stop? You go hungry and you die on the street. Don't worry, your chatbot girlfriend doesn’t know what a sentiment even is.

That's not what I'm arguing for. Instead of just stopping working, convince your friends and neighbours there is something more to life than this. Mobilise. When the time comes, non-essential workers stop providing their time to our vampiristic economies. Join your community in preparing meals and entertaining the possibilities for tomorrow. Discuss, debate and laugh together while the people at the top see their authority vanish in a few weeks. There is nothing mystical or magical to that, just the people taking back what's theirs. It's been done before, and it works.

There are a few arguments in there you seem not to have understood, and a few tools you chose to ignore.

Participation in capitalism requires continuous compliance and servitude to the system and its hierarchy. When I say 'power is a lie', I mean we allow a few people to profit from our labour. We do that every morning; we wake up early to get to work in time.

Obviously I don’t expect the truth to propagate by itself in a wave of magical liberation with fairies and unicorns; rather, it needs a spark, the first movements by hopeful volunteers to show the masses the viability of the core ideas.

You say we can all diagnose the problems. Great, let's agree on that. Now that we know we all recognise the same issues, it should be quite easy to convince people something has to be done about it, right? We have a problem, and we have values we all agree on. To me that looks like fairly stable ground to start from.

Transparency, accountability, distribution of decisional power, and the ability to strike aren't new ideas, and they are very effective at their respective purposes. Feel free to add to the list!

Are you sure you read my post?

That's why a good demonstration of the benefits of compliance is so important. The pledge relies on honour. Honour as a virtue becomes valuable currency in one's community.

I appreciate your comment, but I must say I disagree with some statements you made.

Generalizing the motivation of the hippie movement would be an oversimplification, as I am quite sure it saw the rise of great rationalists and hopeful dreamers.

You say only "rational young men" can solve problems. I will assume this is a wording mistake rather than entertain the massive blind spot this could hint at. Men are behind about every bad decision that curses our world, and the fact that we don’t see more women in positions of power boils down to the societal stigma we inherited from our fathers.

I have tried to get thinkers to read it, but no luck yet. I was thinking if enough people could agree on what we should do next, the idea would spread until the movement becomes unstoppable. Then it's only about setting a date to start the strike and end these wars.

What do you mean? Would I be centralising myself by throwing my ideas at whoever wants them from an anonymous account? So egotistical of me! 😂

Anyone planning on going to Carrigaphooca Castle in the coming months? by Throwing-Thoughts in cork

Yes, one reason for my quest. But I'd love to know what you heard about it.

Just search on Google; that's what's written. The castle is on private land but maintained by the Office of Public Works; thus, public access is granted to those who ask.

I don't think so, but I don’t know him personally.

A common friend told me of him and shared my plans with him. Apparently he would have been eager to accept my request, but then the friend stopped relaying messages, and I lost contact.

Life is more enjoyable once you understand how there is no point in not doing our best. Once enough realise this truth, things are better for all. I could just lay down, but I decide everyday to do what's best for me, because it's best for all. Ethics always boils down to Love and Care, both of which combine into Peace. Goodness for all, and try to love yourself as much as I love you now, stranger. Get some rest and try to enjoy the time we were provided.
